“A luxury stay”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

I stayed at the Crown Spa for business and was there for a week. My first experience at this hotel, and am trying to find any excuse with work to go back.

On arrival, the reception staff were friendly and explained the hotel and its amenities clearly. When I arrived at my room I was taken aback by how beautiful the room was. I stayed on the fifth floor with a view across the Scarborough mainland which was really nice (the room even came with a telescope to take in the scenery). The room was beautifully furnished and presented. I was particularly impressed by the technology and power inputs dotted all over the room This included:
- power sockets by the bed (this tends to be a pet peeve of mine at most hotels where the nearest socket is nowhere near the bed)
- USB power sockets
- AUX input for the bathroom so you can listen to music (nice touch)
- HDMI/PC input for the TV
- TV above the bathtub

The tea/coffee making facilities had lots on offer, including the use of a cafetiere, and the bathroom was always refilled with toiletries for your use.

I had read on other reviews that the rooms do get extremely warm, however the remote-controlled fan helped to balance the temperature.

The full breakfast in the morning has a wide choice of made-to-order options, and was very tasty, with attentive waiters on hand. The Taste restaurant in the hotel continued that same level of quality food and service, with a wide range of options to choose from. The Peppered Beef salad, and Lamb Rump were my particular favourites.

In all, the Crown Spa has been my most pleasant stay in any hotel I have been to, and recommend it to anyone, whether it be for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: 5th floor (penthouse) are the newest of the rooms, and would recommend these

This hotel is in a beautiful spot where you can step out the door and be greeted by a sea view and enjoy a 10 min walk along the sea to the town. The spa is fantastic and I would recommend using it if you stay here to enhance your trip, the spa staff are incredibly attentive.

We stayed in a room on the fifth floor, these are the "best" rooms I.e. Newly refurbished and the room was nice, clean with amenities including I phone doc, tv over bath in ensuite, reading lights etc. The room was very clean and ensuite really great. There is a but and that is the room was unbearably hot as there is no air conditioning just a ceiling fan that is not over the bed and just moves hot air round the room plus a view over a car park as sadly we were not in a room looking over the sea(worth asking for when you book)

We did mention it to reception and the girl was very sympathetic and arranged for housekeeping to add additional fans to the room to try and cool it, night 2 was better thanks to the extra fans!

The dining room for breakfast was really nice and you were seated by a waiter which was a nice touch, no free for all! The bar and restaurant maybe lacked a bit of atmosphere but we enjoyed having a drink and meal out in the town!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view and avoid fifth floor as you are under the roof, with no air condition...

We were impressed by the size and comfort of our sea-view room on the third floor. There is no air conditioning, but one of the windows could be opened wide enough to get some fresh sea air into the room. The situation, (on the top of the south cliff) is quiet and genteel, but as a result it is quite a steep path down to the beach. The initial greeting at the front desk was a little underwhelming, but efficient. Only continental breakfast was included in our B&B room rate and It's an extra £5 for full English and other hot breakfast options. I didn't have a problem with this policy and it was clearly indicated by the friendly wait-staff and in the menu. Parking - there is a drop-off area outside the entrance but street parking around the hotel can be tricky at weekends. The staff can provide a free permit if you can find a space! However there is also a pay and display car park a short walk away (which is not covered by the permit). We didn't have an opportunity to use the leisure facilities. I think this is the only 4 star hotel in the centre of Scarborough, and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are large and well appointed.

My husband and I stayed for one night on 20th June 2014 for my husbands birthday. We were welcomed and informed we had been given an upgrade to superior room, what a lovely surprise. We went into the spa and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay. We didnt eat in the hotel however we had a drink in the bar and found the prices extremely reasonable for a 4* hotel, we were able to park outside the hotel and given a complementary 4 day parking voucher. The only thing we didnt like were the pillows and noisy guests. Thankyou for a lovely stay

Room Tip: 215, however this is not a sea view

Stayed here 2 nights with my partner, room was at the end of the corridor so no noise from other guests. Bathroom was great although bath is a little on the small side. Bed was great but pillows were terrible. Room temperature was a little warm but it was a warm weekend. Close to everything and staff were helpful when asked for directions etc. Continental breakfast was ok. One of the best hotels we have stayed in

We stayed for 3 nights, hotel is ok , for me just makes a 4 star. We had an exec room with sea view. Windows hadn't been cleaned in ages loads do sea gull droppings on the windows. Room itself was ok but soundproofing is poor. The dressing gowns have a large plastic security tag on them, they're not exactly top quality. Resturaunt and staff were ok but need to get quicker at clearing table, we ate our whole breakfast surrounded by other peoples leftovers. Could do with more seating I the lounge it can get busy. Spa is great . My biggest issue is £10 per night to park in the car park !! They do give you a free vouchers to park on the street but try finding a place!!! I. I would stay again is there are not many 4 star around.

Room Tip: Try to pre book parking but remember it costs!
