“Excellent hotel but avoid family rooms above you!”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night Saturday 10th March. We are regulars at Premier Inn, staying many times each year all across the country. This particular hotel was everything you’d expect from Premier Inn - comfy beds, good food, friendly staff and sizable rooms with everything you need. I wish I could add a’ peaceful’ nights sleep to that but unfortunately on this occasion it wasn’t. Above our room was either a family with hyperactive children or a family of elephants - I couldn’t distinguish between the two! The children (or elephants) were obviously running riot in the room, jumping off the bed onto the floor and making my girlfriend and I jump out of our skins with each BANG on the floor. We don’t mind that during the day but when this is going on at 11:15pm it’s pretty irritating. I did go down to reception to complain and to the hotels credit they sent someone up to tell them to quieten down which they did….…until 6:20am. The banging and thumping was even louder this time at which point we’d both had enough and checked out early.
I cannot fault the hotel at all but it’s just a shame when you get ignorant people who do not give a damn about anyone else in the hotel.

Room Tip: Request no family room above you!

A clean, well looked after newly-built hotel, which was well appointed and had friendly helpful staff. Despite a bar below and a bar next door I was pleasantly surprised to find we had no noise problems whatsoever. Parking was slightly problematic, but this is not exclusive to this hotel as parking is a problem for most town centre hotels in Scarborough. There are two car parks directly over the road from the hotel, one a multi-storey pay & display (Palm Court) which charges up to £10.00 for a maximum 24hr stay, and the other is an off-road short stay car park which is free between 6pm and 9am (but means you have to run out at 8.55am every morning to put a ticket on your car if you want to have a lie-in!).

I've never been a fan of bed and breakfast places so whilst most Premier Inn's could arguably be accused of lacking in character you generally know what you'll get for your money. The location of this one is good - at the top of the cliffs in central Scarborough and just around the corner from the shopping precinct. Its handy for walking down to the beach and amusements. There's a pay and display car park just across the road. We stayed just one night and ate at the onsite restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and both meals and experiences were fine. Not gourmet cuisine but reasonably priced and for a family provide a relaxed meal with enough choice to please everyone.

Ive stayed at many premier inns before but this has to be the best by far the staff are lovely and can't fault them and also the room was imaculate and no sign of dust the view from our room was okay was on a main road but was so close to the sea about a 2 minuite walk so that was great the breakfast was beautiful all you can eat help yourself so that was even better! We originally booked to stay at the grand but when we arrived that was shocking so we decided to stick with what we knew and booked premier inn you really do get what you pay for I would recommend this hotel to anyone I shall be back! :)

Friendly staff, very clean room, good central location.
No on-site parking - having to use public car parks proved to be an expensive inconvenience.
Room at back of hotel was very quiet - however we noticed road/outside noise when we walked through front areas of hotel.
