“Enjoyable stay!”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We stayed from 19th August for 5 nights and it was a fantastic stay. The proprietor Val is very welcoming and the other family members that we met were equally pleasant. Room 2 was very spacious, ample room for the four of us, and very clean and tidy, our bathroom was directly next door and solely for our use. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and more than enough to set you up for the day. The guest house is ideally situated for the seafront and the town centre and an easy walk if like us you travel by train. The Barrington also is great value for money only with the personal touches that you don't get in large chain hotels. We cant compliment it enough and cant wait to return.

Very convenient location although could take some time to find parking space nearby, hotel provides parking scratchcards.
Staff very pleasant, hotel clean and welcoming.
Stayed in an attic room with toilet but bathroom shared on lower landing, tea and coffee facilities provided.
Breakfast room small so not all guests can use, be prepared to wait, weekend we stayed was beautiful so was not a problem strolling in the sun beforehand.
Breakfast itself plentiful and very tasty.
Would definitely recommend a couple of nights here, a very good stay

we booked this charming guest house for a short weekend break and we were not disappointed, the proprietors are very friendly and welcoming. we were shown to our room which was on the second floor, it had lovely little extras like hand cream, shoe shine etc, the bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. the breakfast was to die for, very filling and set you up for the day. I would recommend this b&b it is located near all amenities, within easy walking distance to shops and sea front, we would visit again

Upon arriving in Scarborough, we got a bit lost looking for The Barrington. I rang the owner only to realise we were a matter of yards away. We went to Scarborough to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, so I organised a bottle of champagne, which was chilling nicely in an ice bucket when we got to our room. The room was smaller than I'm used to, but had everything we needed. It was nicely decorated & more importantly 'nipping' clean. The guest house is located up a hill, a short distance from the sea front. Breakfast was lovely & the scrambled egg in particular was lovely.
The Barrington is a lovely guest house, with owners/staff to match.
I'm not usually one for booking guest houses, as I tend to enjoy prefer big hotels, but I can't fault it & I'm pretty sure we'll go back.

Just back from a 2 night stay at the Barrington.

The Barrington is in a ideal setting right in the middle of things with lots of pubs and places to eat within seconds. Give Anton’s a try on the seafront its a lovely place to eat.

Parking.. you are given a parking permit and yes it did take us a while to find a parking space but once found we were happy knowing we were safe to park there during our stay.

The room.. was very nice and clean the bed was comfortable and the bedding of a very high standard. There was a lot of noise from the seagulls that never seem to sleep but you are by the sea so what do you expect. I always use ear plugs and i would say take some with you it helps block the noise out.

The breakfast.. there was cereal's and orange juice followed by a cooked breakfast. Only thing i would “complain” about would be the quality of the sausage but that is really only choice.

There is wifi at the Barrington but no matter how much i tried i couldn't get it to work for me.

The Barrington has nice little touches like a hair dryer in the room and some toiletries which i always feel is a nice little touch.

Would i go back to the Barrington.... yes i would and i would recommend it to others as well.

A single traveller regularly visiting Scarborough to meet with friends, I stayed at the Barrington for the first time last weekend.

Wonderfully homely place that was super clean, lovely people, welcoming, and great breakfast for all. Couple of issues with the room...but fair value in the peak season.
Overall enjoyable ...but those couple of issues marred what might have been a great stay.

Likes:
The staff were fantastic..very friendly and accommodating. Guests were made to feel very at home ..and the dining room was full of cheer each morning as everyone tucked into their excellent breakfasts

Dislikes:
(1) Really Uncomfortable bed
(2) No en-suite - & bathroom on a different floor
(3) Very close to the sea - meant VERY noisy seagulls from VERY early in the morning (but then I was on the top floor)

Room Tip: Lower floors will avoid most seagull noise
