Decided to travel to Scarborough without the usual hotel booking done in advance, Arrived around 930 and decided to try The Palm Court. Was ahppy with the rate and happy with the room. Great free WIFI that would put some larger brands to shame on relaibility and speed.
Large bathroom with great water pressure.
Unavoidable noisy gulls providing the background "music".
Good free covered car park only a minutes walk away.
My only moan was the scrambled egg at breakfast tasted like it was a premix rather than freshly cracked egg however this wouldnt put me off staying again.

When I was young I always went to Scarborough and I always stayed in the Palm Court Hotel and I had a lot of happy memories about the place. This year my father and myself decided to go back and visit it and I was delighted that it was still as good as I remember. The location is great as it's right in the middle and easy to get to the shops and beach. The food was great- loved the breakfast. Rooms were very good too. It was very warm when I went but they very kindly supplied us with an electric fan to cool it down. Staff were excellent and helpful in explaining everything. Overall I loved my stay at this hotel and can't wait to go back again. Thank you.

Dear David,

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review concerning your recent return visit with us. I am delighted to hear that we were just as good as you remember and hope that we managed to rekindle some fond memories of Scarborough. Having been family owned for over 30 years we do still have a few members of staff that I am sure would have been here on your previous visit all of those years ago.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Palm Court in the not to distant future.

Kind regards

We stayed at Palm Court from 07/07/13 to 10/07/13 and enjoyed our stay overall. Firstly the parking, it is really nice to be able to park in the undercover private car park as this is hard to find in Scarborough, you just have to park in the car park at the front first which is pay and display, this was not a problem but can see some people getting confused. Sue at reception was very helpful and the staff have drawn up a diagram to help you find where the private car park is.

The hotel lobby and dining room are immaculate and the entrance is particularly welcoming, especially on a weekend when there is the resident pianist playing. Some minor paintwork is needed for touch ups but most of the fixtures and furnishings are quite new.

Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and accommodated any requests we had. On two occasions we had breakfast in our room and the staff were very helpful with this. We also spent some time in the lounge and the bar staff were also very friendly, top marks for the staff, especially as i witnessed several guests complaining about very trivial things but the staff managed the enquiries well.

The rooms are spacious, bathrooms very clean with nice coffee facilities and complimentary toiletries/water much appreciated. However the rooms are a little dated and the single glazed windows meant it was difficult to sleep on occasion with the gulls outside! Please note that the bar across the road plays loud music on weekends which is easily heard from the front rooms, would suggest a rear room if staying at the weekend.

The pool was nice to have and we had the good fortune to use it twice on our own. Downside is that it needs a bit of attention, better seating facilities and cleaning of the walls. Also i was a little surprised that it was next to the lounge and meant that there was no real privacy as i felt we were a little bit on show.

overall service was very impressive and we did enjoy our stay. One final comment is that we felt a little out of place as the general guest climate seems to be pensioners. However this did not put us off, everyone was very friendly and accommodating and we would definitely go again in the future.

I stayed here 9th July for 2 nights with my elderly mother. We were given a family room which worked really well for us being somewhat larger than a normal twin.It was our first visit having previously stayed in other town centre hotels. We both preferred the Palm Court and will be returning. The car park is a big plus as is the wi fi.All the staff were very helpful especially Simon who appears to be everywhere and is a real star!Waitresses were all very obliging too.Food good for hotel food.Smoked haddock and poached egg both mornings was very nicely cooked. No problem to get decaff and green teas.Afternoon tea looked good but we were too full from breakfast!
Yes the lift is old and a bit quirky but it worked fine.Seagulls woke me but that is the same all over Scarborough.Restaurant has no view. In fact windows are frosted but food makes up for it.
Bread served at dinner would be only real minor criticism.Very homey - if a bit solid!
Will definitely be staying there when in Scarborough.

Dear Julie15390,

Thank you for your comments in regards to your stay with us here in Scarborough. All compliments and feedback will be relayed to all staff. I am pleased that you enjoyed that food as all food is made in house including bread rolls which range from , rosemary, mustard and caramelised onion.

I will pass your comments onto Chef so that we continue to improve our daily offerings.

Thank you once again.

We have been going to the palm court hotel for 5 years now and i can truly say in this time we have never had one bad experience, the service is second to none, the food and dining experience is pure luxury and décor and surroundings just bliss. We have stayed on bank holidays, in the winter, at New Year and in the summer and were always greeted with the same friendly faces and receptionists and bar staff that remember our names! My daughter is 3 and gets so excited about going to the Palm Court, when she sees the staff they make such a fuss with her and for a more adult hotel they provide excellent service for the youngsters. I am afraid to say though some of your comments on here are just not true or exaggerated, and if you would encounter any of the problems stated i am 100% sure the staff and management would resolve this or give the next best solution.. Well done Palm Court keep up the superb work and we look forward to seeing you in October (if not sooner!):):):)

Room Tip: Receptionists, bar men, waiters and waitresses are all human.....be friendly and speak to them with respect just as you would expect from them to you, and your every needs will be attended too! Enjoy your stay:)

Dear Lucyg,

Thank you indeed for your review of the Palm Court Hotel. First of all as praise of the Hotel goes, we could not have asked for a better recommendation than the one you have submitted. Almost to the point whereby being asked if this review was indeed genuine.

All staff both new and longstanding are encouraged to go that extra mile and ensure that guests are welcomed with a smile not just when they leave. I must echo your point that we will endeavour to rectify any situation during a guests stay as it becomes very difficult once the guest has already departed.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel in October and for many years to come.

Kind regards
