Well located hotel right in the centre of Scarborough, no sea view but that was not a problem. Room was spacious although the colours are a little well very old hat (reds, yellows etc) soft bed, soft duvet, softer pillows which was a great unexpected bonus. Once again room was big but in need of a revamp!!

The pool was fine (a bit cold).

The retaurant was fantastic, the food - exeptional, the service was good to.

now, the one problem.......
The management , fussy, ignorent and a bit degrading - enough said

I rate this hotel higly on my list and if returning to Scarborough will almost certainly stay at the palm court!

the hotel was great, shame about the refurb work they are doing as there is no view from the bar and lounge also a shame with the noisy creaking corridoors. We stayed for two nights the food was great and the staff really looked after us, the bar stayed open as long as we wanted a drink the tall night porter was really pleasent . One thing we found out was the staff worked really hard for verry low wages i cant understand why they do it they deserve more. Overall we really had a good time and would go back again, but give the staff a wage rise as they really do deserve it.

While this was the least expensive hotel in which we stayed on a recent trip to the UK, we also felt that it was the most overpriced (i.e., provided the poorest value relative to the price paid). Mind you, we were "drop ins," staying for just one night and booking that day through the town's tourist office, so perhaps our price [£110 for B&B after the end of Scarborough's main season] might have been more reasonable had we been able to do more research in advance.

Our room was somewhat cramped, and (without air conditioning) very warm even with the supplied, very quiet, freestanding fan working flat out. This was with ambient temperatures in the low 60s, so the room must be very uncomfortable in warmer months.

By contrast with the bedroom, the bathroom was significantly larger than average but very poorly designed (no horizontal surface space, a toilet on which it was impossible to sit down without knocking the toilet roll off its holder, etc.).

The dining room was light, pleasant, and not cramped, and the breakfast was the largely uniform "English breakfast," reasonably well-prepared.
