Box standard restaurant for scarborough didn't expect more, a nice view over the sea and not far from beach front, the staff very friendly and polite,
But we ordered four haddock regulars on the special menu which was cooked fresh and you could clearly tell the chips were frozen one,s but the biggest disappointment was the haddock itself, now bear in mind l have consumed haddock for a lot of years now and l can tell what is cod, coli cod, and haddock what we were served was not haddock, the flakes of fish clearly indicated to me that this was watery unflakey cheap coli cod, and the size was another clear indication that this was not haddock, for the size we received for haddock would have been double the price, a regular haddock would have been fairley smaller and would have tasted meatier and the flakes solid and chunkier so to me it was not haddock, but it wasn't a total loss because the mushy peas were very nice and the crispy batter complimented the fish really well but unfortunately we will not be eating here again

3 of us stopped at this restaurant by chance. The cold counters were only displaying drinks but we were delighted that we asked the friendly waitress if they were serving food. Excellent fish and chips for one, and two "Scarborough lobster rolls", they were really good and washed down with a very pleasant Sauvignon Blanc set us up for the afternoon. Will certainly return to this very good value and pleasant restaurant. My two friends were so impressed urged me to put it on tripadvisor.
Visit and enjoy.

The plaice was a good size, properly cooked and generally tasted nice but was greasy, as if it hadn't been drained properly. The salad was again nice but definitely didn't match the plaice.

The staff were polite and I wasn't concerned they didn't ask how it was but it would have been a nice touch.

Went to 55 after the last concert of the season for Scarborough Symphony Orchestra, incidentally the concert was amazing, the restaurant stayed open especially for the post concert party and for a small fee provided a very pleasant buffet. There were some strange items included in the buffet like a type of scotch egg, that incorporated fish - but the food was all very tasty and there was plenty for the price. We really enjoyed our evening and would recommend it to others. Staff were attentive and helpful

It was a lovely day on Saturday 12th July to go to the coast but unfortunately it was misty there so the idea of a good late lunch of fish and chips seemed a good idea.
We were presented with a flyer on the seafront of the above restaurant and thought it a good idea as the others were very busy. We found the restaurant which wasnt very busy and found a seat easy and after a short time were presented with a menu and then a long wait till the order was taken. This followed by the pot of tea and bread which was already buttered and was taken from a tupperware container.

We waited a long time for the fish and chips to come along with a family that was in before us.
In fact we had to ask where it was and they commented that they had a backlog of orders.

Well the tea was cold by the time the order came and it was nothing special. In fact it has put me off going into a restaurant and think it would be better in a take-away for service.

Where we were sitting you could see the staff and I have never seen such a lethergic bunch of people serving in a restaurant and they couldnt even crack a smile. I think if there was a fire they would be lucky to get out on time! They certainly didnt look happy at their work.
