After the disappointment of the Golden Grid the other night I followed the advice of Tripadvisor reviewers and visited the Lifeboat Fishbar and I'm glad I did. Small shop, just off the sea front with half a dozen tables in the back. I had the Haddock special at £7.60. Decent sized piece of haddock, freshly cooked (perfectly) in a light batter, chips and mushy peas, pot of tea and a slice of bread and butter. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, prompt service. Do yourself a favour and pay a visit.

Went here twice in three days as the quality of the fish was so good. The second time was rather spoiled as a very large family came in to eat who had no volume control! Cannot be marked down though as the dining area is small so this cannot be avoided but don't let this put you off. Also staff very helpful with young child with us

Just behind the seafront is the Lifeboat fish and Chip Cafe. Takeaway with a small cafe. The fish, which is prepared to order, is the freshest you will ever find. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Not open in winter. The shop and cafe are spotlessly clean and display a food rating of '5'. Forget the 'chip bars' on the main sea front with their greasy options this little establishment is far superior. Well done Lifeboat!

Found by accident while searching for the obligatory day trip to coast fish and chips meal and I have to say I'm so glad we did. Lifeboat fishbar is a small take away at the front with a few tables in the back, with it been tucked away at the end of a side street it is a quiet restaurant so our meal was cooked to order. Both the fish and chips were piping hot and extremely fresh as you would expect from a coastal resort. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely be going again. If your in Scarborough and what great quality and value fish and chips you HAVE to go to lifeboat the

been here multiple times on our visits to scarborough and i always notice the consistency of how friendly the staff are and also how lovely the food is, always hot to the table freshly prepared and for a very good price this is a haven for a nice sit down lunch or a quick take away
