“Excellent hospitality & relaxing stay”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Very well looked after from tea & cake on arrival, friendly host and excellent accommodation. Bed was very comfortable and my wife could have stayed in generous sized bathroom and deep roll top bath all evening! Choice of breakfast was good and cooked to perfection with nice thick pieces of toast. Due to my rural background, I was interested in working farm and was found hosts very accommodating. Would have no hesitation to go back if staying in the area again.

My partner Dereck and I have just returned home from a visit to this fantastic B&B, beautiful room spotlessly clean, wonderful roll top bath ( heaven).
Sue was very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was delicious and so much choice, it set us up for the day.
The location was beautiful and the views stunning.
Please dont hesitate to stay here its a joy. We didn't want to leave.

Me and my boyfriend decided to book a hard earned weekend away and, at the last minute, stumbled upon this picturesque and quintessentially Yorkshire farmhouse B&B. This romantic hideaway captured everything we were looking for in a peaceful, yet luxurious 'postcard perfect' location. Our host, Sue, welcomed us warmly with tea, homemade biscuits and a divine slice of chocolate cake. We arrived at night and immediately fell into the warm and comforting serenity afforded by the stylish, yet homely decor, and were made to feel relaxed and at ease.

Arriving under the cover of darkness, we were blown away by the stunning sunrise, and altogether unexpected panorama, that greeted us the following morning. On all sides, we were surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire countryside and the rolling mists across the valley captured our attention (and that of our cameras) for a vast amount of time before breakfast. We awoke to a wide choice of breakfast options and would fully recommend the full cooked English breakfast; we were unsurprised to discover that Sue has won awards for her culinary skills. In addition we were delighted to learn that all of the ingredients were produce from the farm. Following a lengthy day of exploring and sight-seeing, the roll top bath was a perfect way to unwind and prepare for a romantic meal at a local restaurant only a few minutes' drive away. We both thoroughly loved our visit and it will remain a very special place for us - thank you, Sue, for giving us an incredible weekend.

Room Tip: The Greenlands room offers beautiful views of the Yorkshire sunrise.

We have been visiting Sue at Sawdon Heights for the past 5 years, our latest visit being in September. As usual, Sue who is the most charming host greeted us with a welcome cup of tea and home made cake.
The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable and breakfast is superb.
The area has a great number of interesting places to visit be it Coast or the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, all a short drive away and I would strongly recommend this venue to anyone

Stayed at Sawdon Heights for a three day mini break back in early June,giving us the chance to explore South Yorkshire and the Wolds.For two of those nights we were the only guests which was nice as I'm not sure on the sound insulation room to room which can be a problem if other guests have their TV on,plumbing was a bit noisy but you ended up going to sleep to the drip.The B&B section is a purpose built extension to the farm house so you don't feel as if your imposing on Sue and her family.There are two very comfortable on suite rooms upstairs and an on suite downstairs for those with mobility difficulties.Sue made us feel very welcome and as your separate from their living area you get your own front door key.Cake etc.on sideboard for you to help yourself plus a range of snacks to buy,must also mention the home made bickies with the tea and coffee in each bedroom.Sue has won awards for her breakfasts and rightly so,they are amazing and endless.The farm itself is a working farm,livestock/arable 1600 pigs though you wouldn't know it as it's so peaceful,loved all the cats in the farm yard don't worry if you don't like cats there not allowed in the house as Sue has an allergy.The farm itself is situated in the middle of nowhere.Prospective guests who are not used to total isolation may find this a bit unsettling.Stories of guests standing by the door at night because they've never seen stars or total blackness others terrified by the sounds of nature,Owls,Foxes etc.If your planning a visit book with Sue direct as it's a very popular B&B which my wife and I can thoroughly recommend,we will be returning in the spring if there are dates available? Try Walkers Fish Restaurant about ten min towards Scarborough again excellent .

Room Tip: Bedroom overlooking farm yard has not got the best view.

This has to be our favourite place to take a breath of air;
To feel the sunshine on one's face and breeze blow through one's hair.
No matter what the weather, there's fantastic scenery
And this home and hosts together give the ideal break for me.
Sue always makes us feel that we're her most important guests
And is ever so attentive to all manner of requests.
The accommodation's lovely and the setting is divine;
I just hope we can continue to return from time to time.

Room Tip: The ground floor room is ideal for anyone with limited mobilty
