I recently stayed here, not the greatest hotel I've ever stayed in but it's an ok place to get your head down!! Rooms are clean, although a little small, if your fat (like me) you may struggle with the size of the double bed, which is more of a 3/4 size double, I left the Mrs on the bed & I slept on the floor (we where very drunk)
Breakfast was passable, remember you get what you pay for, remember it's Scarborough not the Seychelles!!

I made the mistake of reading some reviews before we went. Our experience of the hotel was exellent. The staff were really helpful. The room was clean and of a good size. We had a lovely sea view. The breakfast had a good choice of cereal, toast and full english. We also ordered room service and the food supplied was fresh and delicious. Nothing was too much for them and they were very tolerant of our three energetic children!!!

Room Tip: We had a family room as weve got three children. It had an exellent view.

I was also on the coach party that Satjock was on and yes the handing out of the room keys was disorganised and took time, the lift is old fashioned but it did not take 30 mins to reach your room, The rooms are not the best but as anyway if you are not happy you must tell reception and ask to be moved dont just moan about it and do nothing to sort the situation. Yes the hotel was not the cleanest but again complain and ask to be moved hotels if you are that unhappy. As for the moans about the food we were pleased with the choice and it was always piping hot, the veg was served seperately but again was always hot, no complaints from us, again if you were not happy with the food eat elsewhere. I will keep an eye out for the hotel being upgraded and would definately go back once its had money spent on it. We knew we were going to an old hotel and not to have the same kind of room as we usually have but for the whole holiday it was good value for money.

Room Tip: A sea view is nice but noisey seagulls, if you are not happy you must go back to reception.

I recently spent one night at the Clifton hotel with my husband and seven year old granddaughter.we booked through late rooms. For the price we payed we really could not complain, though thought the bed was too hard.the man at reception wasn't very pleasant and a course in customer service may be helpful, but all in all would stay again.

well where will i begin to tell you about this dreadful hotel.on arrival with a coach party we were met by a sullen staff member handing out reservation forms to hand over for keys.we then made our way to the only one lift which only held 2 people with luggage and due to the queue it took 30 minutes to reach room which was on the top floor. once in the lift we found it to be smelly dirty and i think quite dangerous. on entering the room we felt quite sick by the damp and musty smell. first impression was holes in wall drawer with no handle cracks in ceiling cobwebs everywhere dirty top cover and headboard thick with dust. the windows have not been cleaned for years, floorboards creaked and dipped everywhere.later we went to use the shower and the water hit off the glass panel and the water cascaded all over the floor there was no way to stop it as the panel was not correctly sealed. we went down the stairs for our evening meal and could no believe the condition of the carpets they were filth sticky and worn also many bits were held together with insulation tape and the bannisters were also sticky and grubby.at the entrance of the dining room there was a bottle of hand wash to clean hands, very strange but now we knew why.entering the dining room there was a guest getting wet from a burst pipe above him. now for the food,it was utterly uneatable it was obviously from frozen nothing was cooked from scatch liver in 3 inch chunks, fish full of bones, gammon all fat no gammon, one night i had lamb but i brought it home to sole my shoes.the plates were hotter than the meals.tea ,coffee if any was cold.now for the lounge area holes in upholstery many lights with no bulbs and table lights filthy.drinks at the bar was very expensive. one day we came back from a trip and the waiter was taking some weeds out and sweeping cigarette butts up as the ashtrays were full half an hour later the same waiter was serving meals in the same clothing as he had on when doing the weeding, disgusting!!! the staff were apathetic and unhelpfull if you had any problems. we found the whole experience of the clifton hotel quite dangerous if you are unsteady on your feet we are ablebodied but seen a few elderly people tripping, and if you are asthmatic this hotel is very unhealthy with dust and grime everywhere. so beware come to this hotel at your peril, and remember to bring the sterilised wipes and alcohol gel, and remember to wipe your feet on the way out.

Room Tip: do not go there

I recently stayed at the Clifton Hotel with my daughter, on a voucher deal, and have to say it is looking very jaded!
The outside of the building is very off-putting with plaster and paint peeling off. The guy on reception was brusque and very unwelcoming. There is an old-fashioned lift (with the internal gate!) which probably takes 4 people (without luggage!)
When we got out of the lift and went in search of our room (no view to speak of) we found corridors with piles of dirty bedding and towels outside bedrooms-at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Our room on the other hand had NO towels. We decided to sample the 'promotional offer' in the bar, which said that 'house spirits' were £2 each. I asked for a vodka and orange and a vodka and coke, and was told it would be £8.80. When I queried the price the barman said 'Oh , did you want the house spirits?-you should have said' . When I said yes, he poured away the drinks he had already poured , said that I had 'messed up his till' and poured some house (cheap) spirits!
After that we decided to eat out.
The following morning we went into the restaurant for breakfast (plenty of food but mostly overcooked!) and were disgusted to find slug trails on the carpet! Definitely would not recommend.

Room Tip: Don't know how you would get a 'good' room-apart from going to a different hotel!!

We stayed one night on a cheap voucher deal. The whole hotel has a faded a slightly scruffy feel. The bathroom looked as if it had been done up more recently although there was thick mould on the bottom of the shower door and the shower head was corroded and so sprayed water into my eye when I stood back to rinse! The room otherwise was clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast was a bit cheap and greasy thought the dining room was nicely laid out and the staff friendly.
There were a lot of older guests and the atmosphere was nice and the lounge area and bar were very pleasant.
Overall, I've stayed in worse and paid more.
