“you can't miss this place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We took a Wowcher deal for a single night here - - we wish it was for longer, We got one night with Evening meal, and Breakfast with a basket of fruit and a bottle of wine of OUR choice,

OK it's not 5* but the hotel is clean, the staff are amazingly friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had Sunday Evening meal which being Sunday included a roast, a fish option and a vegetarian option was available. Whilst the starters were a little off taste wise the main courses and sweets were as good as many pub menus but with the added touch of being able to select your own vegetables.
The wine was of our choice and my wife selected an Italian Rose which we knew from trips to Malta and was perfect for her (I do not drink). The fruit basket had four types of fruit and was enough for us to snack on all next day.
The Full English breakfast was just that Everything from Eggs and Bacon ,sausage to Black pudding and Hash Browns as well as Cereals and fruit and Yoghurt and unlimited Tea coffee and fruit juices as well as toast .

The hotel is positioned on the headland above the North Bay and is visible as soon as you round the headland so it really is in a good position and if you get a sea view room it really is a fantastic view.
There are lots of reasons this place could be improved for especially with the group of the hotel being so large (Pontins) it deserves some attention and it could be made very acceptable

I was worried after I had read reviews and honestly I was right to be.All I can say is you get what you pay for and £109 {off wowcher} for 2 nights for 2 with 1st night dinner,a bottle of wine and a basket of fruit is about what the break was worth.I upgrade to a sea view, the room had been renovated. The door stuck so hard you had to push it,the bathroom was disgusting.Breakfast and Dinner were dreadful.I agree with a lot of the comments on here. The bar didn't have diet coke,{my other half is diabetic}Pinio Grigio ,or Famous Grouse whisky. It was also a lot way out.

stayed at the beginning of march with family, rooms basic but were cleaned regularly.coffee supplied in room was disgusting , we ended up buying our own.To be fair food was ok,not the hottest , and not a big variety, but managed to find something we all liked each meal time. My biggest disappointment was evenings, entertainment was very poor,on our last night it was none existent, and everyone was in bed by 9pm!! Also , bar prices were very expensive. receptionist were busy,so don't know if that was reason for them being stroppy at times.Overall a disappointing stay.

We stayed here as a family of 4 for 2 nights. Very average hotel and as the previous reviews say this hotel needs drastically updating. We had a large family room but it was very shabby and in some areas grubby. On checking in on the Friday afternoon we found the receptionist very abrupt and not friendly at all. The other receptionists were very friendly and helpful. Bar area and lounge are fine. Breakfast not great at all.

We were a bit unsure after reading reports about the Clifton, but my wife and I were pleased to find we had nothing to worry about. We had a sea view room that had been refurbished. room 124.Had a nice view with plenty of room. We had booked parking in advance. The foyer was still being painted, but did not cause a problem. The food was good and not to busy in the dinning room.

We booked the hotel and then read the reviews on Trip Advisor which was when I started to get worried. However, we had nothing at all to worry about - the room was comfortable, clean and very decent!
I have mobility issues so we were allocated room 8 on the ground floor and we're also given a close by parking space which was directly outside of our room which was great although it would benefit with a chest of drawers.
We paid £146 for 2 nights which included breakfast and dinner on both days - fantastic price as far as we were concerned.
All of the staff were really nice, friendly and helpful, especially Ken who went out of his way to help. There was an abrupt receptionist and also a friendly one who was great.
Meals were all buffet style but very good food.
