If, like me, you have scoured sites for the best place to stay in Scarborough and are losing the will to live - look no further!
I booked a group of 18 people into this beautiful hotel for a weekend in March 2012. We ended up taking over each of the 12 rooms. We had 4 children under the age of 15 with us and consisted of friends who, mainly, had grown up in Scarborough many years ago.
From the start of booking Tom has been immensely helpful (above and beyond the call of duty). He emailed with ideas of where to eat, how to organise the rooms with the number of people staying and even got in wheat/dairy free foods for those on special diets.
The hotel is simply beautiful. Great care has been taken with the refurbishment and every room was spotless, comfortable and luxurious. The breakfasts are excellent with a wide range of options to suit all. The 'Full English' was popluar but so was the fresh fruit bowl, the bagels and the variety of bread/croissant with accompanying preserves.
The views are stunning and it really is possible to walk down to the North Bay, or across to the Castle and South Bay or into town in under 15 minutes.
I saw that there were less expensive places in Scarborough but you really won't get the attention to detail, the relaxing atmosphere or the overwhelming feeling of 'being at home'.
There was genuinely no down side to staying here and we will definitely be returning - sorry Tom!
I should also mention that Lianne, who takes charge in the breakfast room, (along with numerous other jobs in the hotel) is the font of all knowledge when it comes to Scarborough. She knows the town like the back of her hand and also knows all the charcters from the old part of town where the fishermen live. I was also impressed with her ability to know ALL our names by the second day, which was really impressive.
You will not be disappointed by The Helaina and I would be more than happy to chat with anyone who had any specific questions regarding staying there.
Absolutely 5 star on every point.
