Absolutely brilliant! Me, my mum and the dog stayed at The Castle By the Sea to celebrate my birthday (which both John and Janet made this very special for me with an absolutely delicious cake with a candle and a card - Which I didn't expect.) . From the moment you arrive you know you are someplace special, Both John and Janet are efficient, knowledgeable and have impeccable manners. Morning breakfast in the conservatory is a real treat with a classic FULL English just as you desire to have it along with a cup of tea or coffee and a glass of orange juice (optional), the Homemade jam's which to perfection are absolutely delightful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and beautifully appointed to everyone's need, Also in the bathroom they had heated floors. My 19th birthday was truly amazing, I miss John's and Janet's company. The Castle by the Sea is brilliant from own pets too who can come into the conservatory. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Castle By the Sea. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Booked at 2 night break myself and my husband and our 18 month lab.....We could not have been more pleased with Castle by the Sea...from arrival to leaving we and Jet the dog were treated like family. Sometimes you wonder if dog friendly really means dog friendly but John and Janet really made Jet feel at home so that relaxed us straight away. The breakfast was superb and the room wonderful very luxurious!! We were really sad to come away and wished we had booked for a longer stay. We will definitely be returning.

Only spent one night here for a theatre visit but had a fantastic stay. We were able to check in early and had a lovely coffee and cake on arrival and a very warm welcome. Room 1 was spacious and well appointed with a great modern bathroom. A lot of thought has obviously gone in to ensuring a comfortable stay. Fantastic view from the shared terrace but as room 1's window is onto the terrace we had to remember to keep the curtains drawn for privacy. A fabulous breakfast was served in the conservatory again with that wonderful view. Although a 15 minute walk or so from the centre we much preferred to be away from the crowds and near the North Bay.
We will return and maybe with our dog next time as it was such a dog friendly establishment.

Janet and john run a fantastic place and made us feel so welcome from the first minute we stepped inside. . The place is very clean and our double room was a good size with a superb on-suit shower. Even writing this review makes me want to go back. . Central location between both bays, quiet relaxing with suberb views and a stange overall quirkyness which seems to reflect the hosts superbly. .
