“AMBASSADOR SPA HOTEL - FABBBBBBB”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

stayed one night only as i was having my retirement party in a nearby venue and did not want to return home even tho it is only 12 miles away. Hotel is lovely and there is a lovely spa pool that u can use
We had a lovely bedroom onthe first floor (room 102) the only problem i would say is that u cannot open the window unless you are 7 foot tall and when u do you hear very clearly the staff emptying the bottles into the bottle bank just below us which can be noisy
the room itself had a queen size bed and had all the usual comfits to a high degree
well worth the £50 for one night (breakfast not inc at this price) Staff were helpful & polite

Room Tip: dont have room 102 .. our friends were in room 105 and this is a side room which u can see the sea w...

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend here. I'm not normally one to moan; I like to see the good in everything. However!
First impression were that the hotel was nice. Until we went to our room. On the way the corrodors seemed gloomy and in the room Some of the decor and furnishing are nice, but the room was far to small. The bathroom was like a flashback to the 70's, and the bath was small so no relaxing soaks for me. Very Disapointing.

We booked to have a spa day which was the only saving grace to our stay. It was value for money. The spa area is on the small side, but wasn't too busy, so had a nice time. Dissapointed that there was no steam room though.

The staff were all friendly and professional. I would do the spa package again but would rather stay in the premier inn as its much cheaper and the rooms are nicer.

We stayed in the Ambassador on a Saturday night and paid £119 for bed and breakfast. The hotel room was tiny with barely enough room to walk around the bed. The mattress on the bed was very old and thin although the bedding itself was nice. The bathroom was pretty shabby with what can only be described as a 1970's school toilet! The rooms look like they have been recently painted but it all looks like it has been done on the cheap (lining paper peeling off the wall, carpet put down haphazardly). For the price we paid I would expect a much higher standard of hotel. The pool area was nice, although it is a very small pool with barely enough room for 2 people to swim in opposite directions. The changing rooms in the pool were a bit shabby with some very creaky seats in the changing rooms (they are made out of chipboard or mdf and sag quite disconcertingly in the middle when you sit on them). Breakfast was nice but if its busy you feel very crammed in as the room is a little on the small side. Overall the hotel was ok but I would not recommend it to anybody else.

We didn't stay at this hotel, (we made the mistake of staying at one 5 doors away), but we popped in for afternoon tea. It was nice food at good value, we received great service, we only wish we'd stayed here instead.

We have held our Annual Conference at this hotel for the past four years and have found the food and service very good the staff second to none, they can't do enough for you and the rooms bright cheerful and clean a lot of them with wonderful sea views
If you fancy a snack in the bar try the Fish Finger Sandwich

Room Tip: one with a sea view

I stayed here for two nights whilst golfing in the area, the room was big enough with tea coffee making facilities although the shower worked off the taps and the temperature fluctuated alarmingly. The food both at breakfast and evening meals was very good but if using the bar bring plenty of cash as very expensive.

The pictures on the website make it look 10times better than it is. Hotel pretty average, clean, but could do with a fresh lick of paint. Spa ok...if there's only two of you in it, any more and it's packed. Kids in the pool done really help with the relaxing atmosphere. Nice but wouldn't stay again. Don't think it's worth the money.
