My partner and I stayed here for 1 night on 21st December after I'd booked the spa, bubbles and sleepover package for his birthday.
Room: On arrival we were quickly checked-in and given directions to our room (115). We had been upgraded to a deluxe sea view and were really impressed with the room! Our chilled Prosecco was waiting for us too so we were even happier! The room itself was HUGE and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, bathroom more than big enough, plenty of storage space and the views were amazing!! The only negative, which didn't really bother us, was the fact there were tears in the leather armchairs. I know some people may find this cause for complaint but I thought it added to the 'oldness' of the room!
Spa: After settling in, we made our way down to the pool area and were surprised to find we were the only people to use it all afternoon. The pool isn't massive but was definitely big enough for a little swim and to relax in the 'bubbles' end. The pool area had a couple of seats, foot spas, sauna and shower area - all of which were clean. As part of our package, we had the Mud Rasul which was fun and great for the skin. Drink lots of water beforehand though! Please don't go to this hotel if you expect a 'big' spa. It is simply a small pool, sauna, relaxation room and a couple of treatment rooms. This was perfect for us as we didn't want anything too 'in your face' and crowded :-)
Food/drink: We grabbed a bite to eat for lunch and were impressed with the quality of food. We both ordered a tuna sandwich and a portion of chips to share (came to around £13). The bread in the sandwich was really fresh with a massive tuna filling! The chips were amazing too - homemade and cooked to perfection. We ate at a restaurant in Scarborough on the evening so cannot comment on evening meals but we did grab a drink in the bar before we headed out and found them to be reasonably priced. Breakfast the next morning was good too. Plenty of choice and hot.
Location: really handy for the beach and town! Located just above the spa so there is the spa lift for those who have difficulties with the hills. It's a 10-15 minute walk into town or 2 minutes in a taxi!
Overall, a pleasant stay at the Ambassador. The room was fab and all staff were friendly. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet break away! Cannot wait to get married there in 2016 :)
