“FAULTY TOWERS BUT NOT FUNNY!”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

Booked this hotel as we were going to the Leona Lewis Concert which was 5 minute walk down the road. On arrival all OK and we got to the room which was at the back of the property very small for the price we had paid. We decided to go down stairs for a drink and we were served more or less straight away as there was someone on the bar after that it was a strain to have to go and get someone to serve us. Eddie on reception well its a good job he is leaving as he is not the most happiest chappy in his job.We decided to get a toastie each to keep us going until later and we ordered it and went to the bar to get another drink with the snack yet again nobody on the bar so went to see Eddie and he said I get them for you caus the lad who is on the bar is making your toasties EH? Is he a chef as well as a waiter well I thought dred to think what it will be like at evening meal so then we sussed out there were only 2 people running the hotel Eddie and the young lad this is no way to run a hotel backwards and forth and the hotel was full. The toastie was very nice and we went upstairs to get changed to go out to the concert. My partner went to the bar again to get drinks and yet again nobody there so he asked Eddie if he could get a drink and he was not really amused a guess with a big sigh from Eddie he was just coming through and the phone rang so he said wait the phones ringing so back he went to reception and we and left my partner again to hang around for a drink . What is this all about running a hotel on a shoestring I would say and it is not cheap either. We got drinks and left for the concert and returned around 11 and the bar was still open and yes there was Eddie not a happy chappie well I would not be if I had to work the shifts he was working. Wanted to sit outside as it was a warm nioght no table and chairs they were all in so we sat on a bench I asked for an ashtray as there was none and was told use the big white one outside where is it I could not find it at all we got an ashtray eventually and we sat with a nice couple from Leeds and had a laugh with them and the bar was shut at 11.55 prompt. Eddie came out to say he was leaving the job to be a driving Instuctor very soon. Sllep time so we went to bed the room was small but clean wood chip wallpaper on the walls shabby wardrobes and carpet in the bathroom just awful the windows had nice curtains and one had a blind but the other did not this was a problem at 430 in the morning as the sun rose so did we as the curtains let the light in so we were awake by 5 and the bed was not overly comfy. We got up and left at 830 passing Eddie on the way out to give the key no good morning no smaile it was like he was glad to get rid less people the better we decided not to have breakfast could not do with the hassle again of staff possibly running around but the people we met said it was good. Well for the price we paid I wish I had booked the Premier Inn as it was not worth the money at all it has a lack of atmoshere no music in the bar silence apart from if people are in the spa which is next door to the bar then you just get splashing around noises and the smell of the clorine is in the bar too. This place is like faulty towers but not funny at all not enough staff and lack of smiles will not return at all.

Room Tip: the only reason we stayed here was it was near the open air concert venue would have stayed south si...

My partner and I booked a last minute room via laterooms.com. Upon arrival we were given the option to upgrade to the Suite for an additional £20, and it was well worth the little bit extra.

Unfortunately we werent there long enough to try out the spa and pool.

Very clean. Friendly / helpful staff. Can't be faulted. Thank you! See you again soon.

In some places you can feel like you were just using the services of a business, but after our stay I felt the need to say "thank you for having us" as the place really did a first class job of balancing being a small business with a professional hotel feel. The staff were lovely and clearly knew what they were doing.

Room Tip: rooms on the carpark side of the building have also got a sea view (lessened) without the "fron...

We stayed for two nights with three of us in two double rooms. The rooms were clean but the decorating in our part of the hotel was a bit tired and in need of freshening up, the food at breakfast and evening meal couldn't be faulted.
Nice location and nice staff.

My partner and I stayed for one night in June after watching the motorcycle racing at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough. I totally agree with the positive comments from other reviewers! We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. Upon arrival we were offered another larger room at the front of the hotel if we wished - so it shows that the management have taken on board the comments regarding small rooms. As we were only staying one night the room size was insignificant. What was more important was that the room and ensuite were immaculate! Excellent standard of cleanliness! The hotel is situated in a pleasant part of town overlooking a park, so is quiet. Very good sized car park too. The breakfast was very good; cannot comment on the spa as we didn't try it. The decor is quite individual with a modern feel to it. Very relaxing bar area too. The menu for the restaurant looked very inviting - but we wanted a curry and we were directed to the Scarborough Tandoori which was delicious.
The overwhelming aspect which made our stay so good was that we experienced REAL customer service! The staff appeared to enjoy their work and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. We met Alison, Kelly and Geoff and they were professional as well as caring. All in all they made our improptu stay in Scarborough very special. The Thank you card we received from them a few days later was a nice touch too! We shall be back!!

Room Tip: Front rooms are larger.
