Spotless room with very comfortable bed and double-glazed windows that really worked and kept the room quiet. Also (other hotels please copy this) heating whose temperature you could adjust. The friendly chatty proprietress provided a breakfast so vast I could eat only half which was a shame as it was delicious! Easy parking outside with a permit you can buy from reception. All in all a good place to stay and return to. Beer lovers need stagger only a few metres up Valley Road to the Good Beer Guide-recommended Cellars and Valley bars.

The Raincliffe Hotel is very nice, a warm welcome, and close enough to walk to the beach and shops. The owner is very friendly and helpful, which was handy as I hadn't been to Scarborough before.
Highly recommended and worth visiting again.

Room Tip: The four-poster bedroom is a good choice ;-)

Raincliff, nicely placed for the town, Stephen
Joseph theatre, and the sea front, a stroll to both.

Katherine and Mal are very friendly, they know what makes a difference, be warned the breakfast is something to behold, clean up first day you get more the next, no need for lunch

We stayed overnight at the Raincliffe whilst visiting friends in Scarborough. We were very impressed that the hotel maintained very high standards throughout. The décor was bright and fresh and the rooms were exceptionally clean. The ground floor double room was spacious and a hospitality tray was well-stocked. The bathroom with shower was bright and sparkling with good quality towels. The cooked breakfast was top notch (although I thought the bread used for the toast seemed a bit sweet??) and Katherine was welcoming and very sociable. Full marks all round!!

We stayed here for two nights - Katherine was so welcoming and hospitable. The breakfast was superb with a wide choice available. Our bedroom was large and comfortable. Katherine has a wealth of local knowledge which was very helpful. The hotel is centrally located and within easy walking distance of the sea front and the town. We would definitely recommend the Raincliffe to our friends

Stayed at this hotel for just one night, 20/01/13, spur of the minute idea to have a night away and found this place on the net. All I can say is dropped on our feet big time. The hotel had only us and another couple staying but they deserve so much more, we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we stepped over the door step. Mal is larger than life but a great laugh and he will entertain you with his anecdotes at no extra charge and his wife Katherine was the hostess with the most. The room was spotless and comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from the town and sea front up a slight hill, weather was a bit cold and damp while we were there but the short walk up the hill warmed us up. Breakfast was a joy to behold and if you leave the table hungry then you only have yourselves to blame.

Glad we found the place, we will certainly be returning in the future.
