“Warm cosy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2010

Yes we have just returned from our second visit there with almost the same group as last year there were 47 of us. The weather was really cold and snowy with a vicious wind off the North sea but we were really warm and cosy in this hotel. Several rooms have been refurbished and they were lovely but all the rooms we had were perfect anyway. We couldn't go out on one day because of the snow but they kept the heat on all day and we were entertained with quizes and bingo. Food was good with lots of choice, staff very friendly and pleasant. (Juilianna you need to lighten up a bit in the mornings) don't think shes a morning person. Yes it was wonderful and we shall be returning again next year

This was our first time at this 2 star hotel. First impressions were good, the bedroom was well furnished complete with king size bed. The modern bathroom also included a jacuzzi. The staff were a delight, courteous and efficient. The dinners were ample and of good quality with plenty of choice. Never got to try the indoor pool, my own fault because it looked so inviting!

If there was a dowside then it would have to be the lack of a LCD TV in the room and the bar prices were a little more than their nearby competion. We both enjoyed our visit and would be glad to return.

I have just read some of the comments from previous visitors to the above hotel and I begin to wonder what there problems were. The Staff and I mean ALL THE STAFF, its the second time I have taken a Party of 52 and we have just back after our 4 day break.
I cannot fault the Hotel nor the owner Nick, the following Joanne/Joanna/Julliana/Maria have been wonderful during our stay nothing was a problem and if we had a problem they would short it out. So some of the comments from other people do baffle me. The hotel has been refurbishing rooms with great effect. The food is excellent aswell. I also spoke with other guests who have been before and its a great place to come,
My group of which I am Social Secretary and Secretary is called ROYSTON ROYAL NAVAL ASSOCIATION - GRAHAM PARRY

we have just come back from a midweek stay, the reception staff were fantastic and always happy to help, the room was more than adequate and thats where the pluses end. The food was poor and despite being told that there was a childrens menu the truth was slightly different there is no menu as such a choice between chicken nuggets or fish fingers was the choice every single day. the bar is expensive and resembles something from a old people home and the non english restaurant staff where rude and to the point. a very over priced hotel saved slightly by maria and the team on reception who frankly deserve a better job

Had a great weekend as our annual reunion headed North. Staff at the Red Lea were very attentive, friendly and although booked through the Isle of Wight Tours it made for an easier deal - hotel booked and paid for before we turned up. The IOW Rep, Shirley, was very attentive and as such ensured that eveerything ran well.

My room was spotless and attended to when away from the hotel and a comfortable bed allowed a decent nights sleep. Shower was good and hot and food in the restaurant was very good. Parking is on street but free and in a safe area so no concerns.

My only ONE concern was the price of drinks at the bar - £4 for Newcastle Brown and £4.20 for a pint of bottled cider was VERY steep. If this could be dropped it would make for a cheaper time. Other than that no complaints.

I'd be more than happy to go back there with family or another circle of friends.

We recently stayed with our 11 month twins and were extremely impressed with how helpful and caring all the staff in the hotel were. Our room was lovely with a sea view and the travel cots provided were in very good condition and obviously comfortable as babies slept great in them!!! High chairs were provided in the dining room at our table and were there whenever we needed them!!
Parking was very easy with lots of spaces right at the door and the swimming pool has a great shallow end for small people!!! All the guests during our stay were very friendly too!! Great time had by all would definatley recommend!!

Arrived and checked with the receptionist that our room was ready and it was the one that I had booked over the phone, large with a sea view room. Very outdated style which was not as per the website and THE MOST uncomfortable smallest double bed we have ever stayed in - no sleep was had by either of us. Breakfast was made for people with false teeth and was very poor quality. The only good thing was the weather on the day we stayed it was gorg which meant we did not have to stay in the room for long. When checking out we were not asked whether we enjoyed our stay although I did make a point that the bed was most uncomfortable and the receptionist proceeded to say nothing. This sealed their fate and we will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.
