Just returned from another stay, a full week this time, had a 4 night break earlier in the year.
Very friendly welcome, room, service and food the usual excellent standard, we were a little concerned when a party of 30 ex naval personnel arrived for 3 nights, the management and staff coped extremely well with no drop in service for other guests. We are returning for a 4 night break with friends in 3 weeks time and have already booked for 2014.

Very impressed. The Weston Hotel is located right on the Esplanade which is on the quieter, southern side of the town overlooking the cliffs. It is very close to the funicular lift which can get you up and down to the beach (80p per-person one-way). We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Stephen Joseph Theatre whilst still having a sea view, and it was an excellent decision. Parking is much easier than you might have anticipated, with plenty of roadside spaces when we arrived mid-morning on a weekday. The hotel reception gave us a pass allowing free parking for 3 hours (no return within the hour) between 9am - 5pm, and free after that. We left our car unattended for a full 24 hours right outside the hotel and had no problems.

The hotel is of the traditional 'faded glamour' variety, but beautiful if you like this kind of thing. We only stayed the one night B&B in room 23 on the third floor. The lift was rickety but worked fine. The room was small, old and creaky, but perfectly okay nevertheless, with a TV, a small double bed and separate medium-sized single bed. There was room for a desk and a chair and there was an en-suite. It was all clean and had been freshly-painted and yes it did have a beautiful sea-view. The hotel claims WiFi, but it didn't reach up to us, however we hooked onto a solid BT-Fon connection and were happy enough with that.

Breakfast in the morning was a delight, set in the large bay-windowed room overlooking the seafront. It was hearteningly busy even for mid-September with about fifteen couples in when we were. There were lots of pleasant waitress staff and the 'Full Yorkshire' breakfast was faultless, with surprisingly tasty coffee.

In my opinion, the 2 stars this hotel has are completely misrepresentative of the accommodation; it is far, far better than that. We spoke to the staff and they said that stars are based on such outdated criteria as having land-line phones in bedrooms, which they didn't have. Well who doesn't have a mobile phone these days? The hotel is undergoing gradual refurbishment. We saw that many rooms had new doors and handles, and apparently these are the ones that have already been done. More are planned over the winter. They are also intending more significant improvements such as extending the dining room, moving the reception, fitting ground-floor toilets etcetera. They have promised to retain the hotel's character and not transform it into something anonymous. It will be interesting to come back next season and see how much it has improved.

In summary, this is an excellent hotel and the good TripAdvisor reviews are far more more indicative of its quality than the ridiculously mean 2 stars. It is well worth staying here.

Room Tip: Room 23 is on the front, on the top floor. Nice and quiet with sea-view from the sash window.

A short break booked at minimal notice brought a pleasant surprise. The location we knew of which is hard to surpass, the sea view being the icing on the cake. A warm welcome was matched throughout our stay by genuine friendly service. The evening meal of exceptional value could not have been expected to be so good at this cost but was excellent. A large spacious room and comfortable bed only being let not ever so slightly with a dated bathroom, this I am informed is an ongoing refurbishment issue as we were shown a room occulied by other guests.
We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must on the second floor being worth the hotel cost alone.

My friend and I stayed at the Weston for 4 nights the first week in September, I honestly could not say a bad thing about it really, right from the first phone call i made months before when i was making enquiries, the staff were lovely, the food was amazing and a great choice, the room was very clean and a nice size, a stones throw away from the cliff lift, we were made to feel very welcome and we felt that if we had had any problems (which we didn't) the staff would have done everything in their power to sort it out, very enjoyable stay all round. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

My father had previously stayed at the Weston (in June this year) and wanted to have another short break. He booked for 3 days leading up to the August Bank Holiday and then persuaded me to see if I could get a room so that my husband and I could join him. Mandy dealt with my request and arranged for us to have adjoining double and single rooms - refurbished to a very acceptable standard. OK the ensuite is fairly compact but how much time do you spend in there? We were more than happy with the comfort and cleanliness, together with the refreshment tray provided. The food is very good with plenty of choice but Dad was a little disappointed that the seafood gratin didn't appear on the menu this time as he'd been raving about it and hoped to enjoy it again!

The hotel is well placed for Scarborough's attractions and it's an easy walk into town if you are reasonably fit. It's particularly good for theatre goers and the hotel's meal times are set to allow people to enjoy their evening meal without having to bolt the food down so as not to miss the performance.

I would recommend the Weston without hesitation as the staff are pleasant and helpful, the food is good, the rooms are comfortable and there is even some entertainment on occasionally. We enjoyed the singer who told stories of his time with the Tornadoes and played music from "our" era. Hope to visit again before long.

My husband and I have just returned from a five day holiday with 'InterChoice' coach holidays staying at the Weston Hotel. We have to say how impressed we were. We had a sea view room and what a view it was. The room had recently been refurbished. Everywhere was so clean and well maintained. Hugh and his staff were very helpful and attentive. Although we only saw Tom, the chef once, his food spoke volumes, a varied choice, cooked beautifully and always hot and well presented. We would be very happy to stay there again. Thank you all, David & Pauline

Room Tip: As for a refurbished sea view room.

We have stayed twice at the Weston Hotel and both visits have been very enjoyable. This family know exactly how to make the stay a pleasure without being "in your face". The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are all delightful and the food is excellent. It is beautifully presented and there is an excellent choice of dishes at breakfast and dinner. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
We have stayed in a refurbished room and apart from the sink in the en-suite being VERY small everything else is perfect.
