We visited the Foxhound Inn on Saturday evening for a meal on a rare child free evening.
Having heard lovely reviews about the food and having visited before a few years ago.
We were allocated a table next to the bar and two different staff members appeared to take our order within 2 minutes.
We ordered a Steak wrap and a Pork Sandwich.
Another couple arrived and sat behind us and the bar quickly became very busy with groups of pre booked customers buying drinks and waiting to be allocated tables.
The couple behind us received their meals and we waited appox 40 mins for our food, I began to realise they must have forgotten us and asked a waitress how long it would be, she arrived back and started looking through the order book, it was evident they had lost the order.
She then went on to serve another customer without explaining where our meals were.
I asked another waitress about the order and she asked what our names were, while all this was going on the couple behind us noticed they had been charged £117.00 on their card instead of £17.00, at this point with the hustle and bustle of lots of people crowding the bar area I just wanted to leave as we had to be somewhere at 7, the waitress did say she could rush it out for us but we wouldn't have had time to eat it depending on how quickly they did..
So we left.
This is a lovely place and the staff are friendly and appear to be efficient, but when it's busy they are unable to cope, they don't bring drinks to the table so you have to order drinks at the bar and pay for them at the bar, this means that the bar gets crowded at times, spoiling the experience if your table is seated next to them! It is noisy and people's bottoms are at table height-not pleasant when eating!
The tables are numbered so I can't understand why this is difficult and names have to be taken, there appeared to be no mature supervisor and we heard the conversations between the girls about who was doing what and it was just confusing and unnecessary.
Finally, I was a chef and a waitress one time and I know how busy it is, how stressful and that losing orders happens, it's how you deal with it that matters and it wasn't dealt with very well, lovely atmosphere and I'm sure the food is lovely as people have testified but not a place to visit when it's busy.
