We booked online for two nights in the middle of March 2013 for our mini honeymoon. I rang up a few weeks before and explained it was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a fancy room free of charge. When we arrived on the 15/3/13 we were greeted in a very friendly manner by all the staff, our room was clean and very comfy, it had everything in it we needed for our weekend break The bar area and pool table were a lovely and very relaxing, our breakfast was wonderful and catered to every dietary need anyone could possible have. The staff could not do enough for us we didn't have a problem with any of our stay. The hotel is in a ideal location you can walk to any park of Scarborough in a ten minutes. There is a lovely Indian restaurant five minutes from the hotel.
Thank you Paul and Paula and everyone else who made or stay brilliant and for a wonderful start to married life.
We have already booked to go back for your 1st wedding anniversary 2014.

We booked last minute to say 1 night and thought for the price why not... From the minute we walked in Paula and Paul were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent quality and value.

We would stay again as we are sure for the price you would not find better or the level of service that Paula and Paul give. They have it just right, which makes you want to return again.

The hotel is situated perfectly to be walking distance to both the North or South shore and also close to town centre. Me & my partner stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute.

The room was beautiful - a double sea view room with a large bay window with a table and chairs to enjoy watching the tide go out in the morning. The bed was extremly comfy (im sure it had a memory foam mattress topper), there was a tv with freeview and the shower ensuite was faultless. Each day the room was cleaned and our tea & coffee was replenished.

The breakfast was lovely at a great price and plenty of selection on the menu.

Paula & Paul who run this lovely place were the most friendly people i have ever met! Always happy to help and checking everything is okay when we saw them on our way out/in.

Thank you for our stay, we have agreed that we have found our hotel to stay in from now on. :)

We stayed here for 1 night and were given a room on the second floor with sea views which was wonderful. The room was of a decent size and suited us fine, as 3 adults sharing. Paul was very welcoming and very pleasant with us everytime we bumped into him.
The only downside we found was lack of air by which I mean out of the three windows only one opened about 4inch and when the sun hit the windows in the morning our room was roasting hot which meant none of us slept. I agree with other reviews that the rooms are looking quite tired and shabby and really could do with some attention however for the price we paid we can't complain at least it was clean.
We would stay again for sure as the location was good and parking facilities were great too. The hotel is great for a short stay in Scarborough, just wish there was more ventilation that's all.

We stayed at the Clarence Gardens for one night when visiting Scarborough. Paula was very helpful and welcoming on check-in and sorted out all our parking concerns immediately. Our room was on the top floor with a sea view (as requested). I agree with some of the comments made by other reviewers regarding the 'tired' state of the rooms but, that said, we had a lovely time looking out over the seafront watching the world go by. Breakfast the following morning was incredible value at £5 each for a full English, and as much toast, cereals, yoghurt, cheese, sliced meats as you can eat! All in all, good value and a warm welcome.

We stayed for three nights with our two doggies. We were made to feel so welcome. Our room was sparkling clean and spacious, the bar downstairs was perfect for resting after a days romping and playing on the beach. Nothing was too much trouble, I would recommend this home from home to everyone. Paula and Paul thank you very much x

As a first impression, our check-in experience was a winner - as we were checking in, Paul noticed my walking stick and offered us a change of room as the one we were booked into was reached by stairs from the second floor (where the lift ended). We stuck to our original room as the fabulous sea view was a big reward for climbing a few stairs. A good-sized room with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for our belongings. The bathroom was immaculately clean and well-lit. We both slept well in the beautifully comfortable bed. We spent some of our first evening in the bar chatting to Paula and some other guests. Paul and Paula are fabulous hosts - warm and welcoming but never intrusive. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and I'd recommend the Clarence Gardens to anyone.
