stayed for two nights, for armed forces day, hotel now under new ownership, a friendly couple, who made you welcome, will continue to return to the Clarence gardens, as the view from the rooms are amazing, and the hotel has a nice atmosphere and always enjoy time spent there.

Room Tip: sea view rooms a must, we normally stray in room

We had another short stay at the Clarence Gardens last week. The new owners have only been in place for 6 weeks but are very keen to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible, despite encountering a number of challenges due to equipment failures. They also mentioned that they are keen to modernise and improve the hotel once they've found their feet. They were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this as the best dog friendly accommodation in Scarborough as it is much more accommodating than some of the larger, more expensive establishments.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel have excellent views.

We stayed one night this bank holiday weekend in the Clarence Gardens. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice even if we did have a few troubles getting juice re-filled and a shortage of supply of teacups. The staff were friendly and helpful, which is always great. The view from our room (on the front) was stunning, overlooking the sea and castle. The walk into town was 5-10 minutes. Parking was OK, apart from an idiot who thought he could cut the corner whilst we were reversing into our space on the end.

As others have said the hotel itself needs a fair bit of updating but I believe the new owners are planning to rectify this. If done correctly then this hotel would be superb, building on it's views and location. But, even now, I would recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a good value place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 21 has a fantastic view if you have a family.

We didn't intend to stay the night, in Scarborough, but seeing as the sun was still shining, & the Sunday weather looked promising, we 'googled' nearby hotels.
Prior to this, a lady in the Scalby Mills Inn had mentioned she was staying at this hotel, & it was dog-friendly.
We rang the hotel about 6.45, to be told there was a room available, and that our dog was welcome. We went straight round to check in, and were given a warm reception by the new owners. They'd only taken over the day before, but seemed quite at ease in their new surroundings. We had a drink in the bar later, with them, and they told us of the pakns for the place.
We slept in a family room, facing the North Shore & castle, it was clean, the bed was comfortable & there was plenty of tea & coffee available (I do like that!)
We had a good breakfast, plenty of choice, both English & Continental.
The hotel is in need of some refurbishment, which the new owners are going to tackle.
We wished them all the best & hoped their time in Scarborough will be a successful one. We will visit again - booking in advance next time !!!!

Room Tip: ask for a seaview - the sun streams in on a morning :)
