We stayed in this hotel overnight on 5th July and were very disappointed. On the website it said rooms were from £39.95, and £49.95 for a premier room with a seaview and vintage furniture.
Well, we were charged £59.95 for the room which DIDN'T include breakfast, and the only things 'vintage' about it were the ancient chair with a hole in it, the stained and torn woodchip wallpaper on wall and ceiling and the faded quilt cover. The room itself was really small, about a six inch clearance between the wall and the bottom of the bed, and the windowsill was cracked and rotten.
There was a stunning seaview, and we had a decent night's sleep, but that didn't make up for the rest.

Room Tip: Choose a seaview - the only thing that was good about it.

stayed for two nights, for armed forces day, hotel now under new ownership, a friendly couple, who made you welcome, will continue to return to the Clarence gardens, as the view from the rooms are amazing, and the hotel has a nice atmosphere and always enjoy time spent there.

Room Tip: sea view rooms a must, we normally stray in room

We had another short stay at the Clarence Gardens last week. The new owners have only been in place for 6 weeks but are very keen to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible, despite encountering a number of challenges due to equipment failures. They also mentioned that they are keen to modernise and improve the hotel once they've found their feet. They were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this as the best dog friendly accommodation in Scarborough as it is much more accommodating than some of the larger, more expensive establishments.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel have excellent views.
