Room 4 - the pub/hotel is situated in the lovely village of Kinsgclere just north of Basingstoke. The rooms are above the pub and it is very 'harry potter-esque', in that the floors/doors/windows are very uneven but in a very nice quaint way. The room itself was of a good size with a small en-suite shower/toilet room. There were tea/coffee facilities with a freeview digital television. Breakfast was nice and an English fry-up was available if required. So all in all the hotel was worth the money (£39 p/night) though not any more.
Negatives - The service was quite poor. The room was not ready upon our arrival so they promised to put our bags in the room, but upon our return they were still laying on the floor in the pub. The breakfast service is extremely slow with the staff not replenishing any of the juices / milk on offer and offering tea which had been in the pot and cooled down. The sani-flo which is installed in the bathroom gives on an aroma of sewage though luckily this smell is retained in the bathroom. Finally, the rooms above the pub were quite noisy (friday/saturday night), but half a bottle of wine soon sorted that out.More
