Recently refurbished so we decided to return to see what it is like. Interior pleasant, if a little contrived olde worlde. Enjoyed the starter grazing dishes. Main courses were good, although £18 for a shepherds pie is very steep.

This has so much potential, the food and service is absolutely great..... Hallelujah a pub with a brain in the kitchen and front of house. We have spent two evenings here, each time we've spent over 60 pounds and eaten arguably the best and most inventive plates, superb meat, great attention to detail on all courses and really kind staff.

Verdict: just go!!!

We had a great time at The Bunk over Easter. It was a late anniversary trip and we were well and truly looked after by the staff. In particular Amanda couldn't do enough to help and provided us with everything we wanted. Our room was lovely, modern in design with a sumptuous bathroom and soft towels. Very clean and tidy everywhere. The food was the icing on the cake with a number of dishes tried over the few days we were there. So good we didn't want to eat anywhere else. Fish and chips with mushy peas (not mushy, more pureed) was a particular favourite. There were a number of unusual presentation touches which added to the overall attractiveness of the dishes and helped make us feel there had been care taken to make our experience all the more wonderful. A particular delight was the dessert menu with pistachio artic roll with raspberry coulis feeling like a decadent update on a 70's classic! (Get the table by the bar with a view into the kitchen to see the guys working hard to prepare your order.) I totally recommend this place to you if you are in the area. A hidden gem and we look forward to visiting again.
