Great location for races.
On arrivel the rooms were lovely and a very good size with everything you need for a comfortable stay and the added chocolates we had was a lovely touch. Bed comfortable alittle small for a double I would say.
We went for a meal we didn't book but although they were very busy they managed to sqeeze us in for a fab meal.
The puddings menu well what can I say best pudding i have ever tasted the next morning we even had it again before we left. The presentation of it was out of this would and combination of flavours blending so well it was i burst of sunshine in your mouth. You have to try the cherry and dark chocolate fall.

We arrived in this hotel very late with a family of three. The staff was very helpful with carrying our luggage up, as we were exhausted after a long day of travelling. The place looked a bit plain and wasn't as modern as most of the other ones we had visited during our tour through England and Wales, but maybe I should add that this was also the cheapest one. The rooms were clean and breakfast was okay. The hotel is located close to the M4 which was perfect for us because we were heading for Wales the next day. Despite the old-fashioned looks of the rooms we were still very happy with our choice. Good value for money!

Dear Steff

Thank you for taking the time to review our Inn. We do try to keep the decor a little in the style of a coaching inn and to reflect our heritage and ensure we give a home from home feel. Having said that I have just ordered new furniture for our Stable Block and will finish refurbishing them later this year. Next on the list will be the Main Inn as part of our ongoing "Forth Bridge" programme.

Friendly service and good value for money are two assets of which we are truly proud so thanks again!

Claire and team were amazing. Rooms were fab, food was fantastic. The cherry and chocolate dessert was so AMAZING we got the chef to make us one for breakfast! Great value for money and well worth the 2 and a hour drive for that desert! Well done.

Room Tip: We stayed in number 17, nice to be on the end but unfortunately the people above we're very nois...

Dear Catherine

The new Fool desserts are an invention of Tom our second chef and he was delighted when I read your review, as were we all, at our monthly meeting. Indeed he has since introduced another, Sticky Banoffee Sponge that is just too good!

Its so nice when our many happy guests do find the time to let us know when we are doing a good job, and it really does reward the hard work everyone here does So..

THANK YOU

We stayed for two nights to go to the races and really couldn't fault anything. The room was clean, spacious and well presented, the bar and dining area welcoming and relaxing and the food was really very good. Thank you to the staff for their warm and welcoming manner and for making this a memorable stay.

The staff in the hotel were all and very accommodating and friendly, however the room we stayed in whilst cosy and comfortable, was a little grubby around the edges. Both the bedroom, and in the particular the shower cubicle could do with a good deep clean. The pub and restaurant downstairs had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the food we had was pleasant, if a little overpriced for what it was.

Dear Mainze75

I have sent a message asking which room you were in as our cleaning standards normally score so high. Perhaps you could reply and I can then ensure we investigate! Lil our housekeeper sent her apologies with mine and we will continue to work to the standards that have gained us so many good reviews for the hard work she and her team do.

Perhaps you could now contact me please?

stayed two nights and visited newbury races, my wife and myself have stayed before and had no worries about returning although our last stay was over three years ago and standards were just as good as last time. we returned this time with friends and we were all pleased with the accommodation. the rooms are small but very clean, we had a very comfortable bed with two nights great sleep. didn't use the pub much but had a few drinks on arrival (the guinness is as good as in Dublin) the breakfast was cooked fresh and was very good, they even make the toast for you not like larger hotels that point you to a toaster to do yourself. when visiting newbury again this is where I will book and perhaps a few more Guinness.

We were so pleased with our choice of hotel - after reading some poor reviews we were pleasantly surprised. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel at home, we were upgraded without asking as the receptionist noted that the stairs may have presented a problem. The staff were excellent, most welcoming and very helpful. We dined in each night and the food was very good, the breakfast choice was wide and cooked beautifully. We fully intend to return - we give it 10/10!
