“Good B & B - much more than expected”

Normally stay in chain hotels when on business but disappointed with options in this area so though t I'd give this a go.

Very friendly owners, helpfully showed me the accommodation and then let me to my own devices ( with a promise that if I gave them a shout they would help with anything else). A couple of the rooms are in an annex with the added benefit of a generous shared living room and small but functional kitchen.

Out in the country so very quiet, but 10 mins max from town centre and only a few hundred meters from the local pub ( which i didn't try ). Good base for business but even better for a group of friends or family where the extra accommodation would be an even bigger bonus.

Lovely B&B, great hosts and delicious cooked breakfast. Good size rooms with large fluffy towels and duvets and pillows to sink into. Walking distance from The Vineyard at a fraction of the price of the rooms there. We'd stay again.....

We spent four nights at Rookwood Farmhouse and I cannot say enough positive things about the experience. Our room, in the annex, was spacious, immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and featured an exceptionally comfortable bed made up with high quality crisply ironed linens. The bathroom was large with a great shower, large fluffy towels, and a heated towel rack. The two bedrooms in the annex are upstairs and share a large sitting room downstairs furnished with beautiful antiques, a wood burning fireplace and large flat screen television. Perfect place to relax and read or watch tv at the end of the day. There is also a half bath downstairs for the use of guests which is quite convenient. Rookwood Farmhouse is set in 3 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which are available for guests to enjoy. Charlotte and Rupert are the consummate hosts and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Breakfasts were absolutely wonderful and among the best we have ever had at any B&B. There is a nice breakfast menu each morning with several delicious options including a traditional full English breakfast. Fresh fruits, juices, toast and a selection of marmalades and jams (some home made) yogurt, and half a dozen varieties of cereals are also available. I was particularly pleased to be offered freshly brewed, piping hot French press coffee. The dining room is quite large and nicely furnished too. The B&B is very conveniently located for sightseeing in the area. Also, it is only a short walk to the Lord Lyon Pub where we ate 3 of the 4 nights we were there. Beautiful & quintessentially English pub with an outstanding dinner menu. Certainly several steps above average pub fare and highly recommended. If your plans include a stay in this lovely area of England I would heartily recommend Rookwood Farmhouse.

Room Tip: The two annex rooms are especially nice and very quiet and private.

We stayed at the Rookwood for a night in June, we stayed in the annexe in the rooms next to the swimming pool i believe it was the blue and yellow rooms. Both rooms were very confortable, decorated well and very clean. Breakfast was very nice we had the full english which was of a high standard and eaten in the dining room with other guests. There are two pubs a short walk from the B&B which offer food should you be looking for somewhere to dine in the evening. I would definitely recommend a walk around the gardens although beware they will make you very jealous that you dont live there!

I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

This bed and breakfast is difficult to rate. The accommodation and gardens are superb and we were extremely comfortable during our one night stay. However the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired nd from that perspective made the experience disappointing, expensive and not good value. The B&B's own literature quotes fresh fruit, pastries etc. The breakfast could best be described as very poor, 'value' standard cereals still in packets, no fresh fruit or pastries and my partner could not have everything he asked for as the items had not been 'defrosted'. I have not taken this up directly with the owners as yet as I wanted to check the standards applicable for Sawdays and AA before I make my complaint. We stayed at the B&B whilst visiting the Watermill Theatre (which is very close by)

We loved the look of the room. Beautiful furniture and furnishings. Lovely en-suite-towels fluffy and large. The four poster bed needs a "topper" to make it comfortable. The breakfast was good-lovely homemade marmalade. The hostess forgot we were coming early to put our case in and was out when we came! Had to re-arrange our day. Could do better.

Room Tip: Not the four poster!
