We popped in for a drink. The lady serving us was more attentive to the customers sitting at the not so large bar than taking our orders and had to ask us twice what we wanted (just 2 drinks). We went to sit in their garden which was raved about. Needs a good tidy up. Overall ... just average.

We have just returned from a day trip to take our 1year old puppy to have a play in the sea outside Minehead. Three hours later we have two muddy/sandy children 12 and 15,one wet and tired pup and two adults in need of refreshment. After some searching in Dunster I eventually ask the question, can we bring a dog into the Cellar bar, Dunster Hotel absolutely fine but obviously not in the beautifully appointed restaurant. Not only did we have the extremely pleasant and helpful bar staff, even providing pup with a big bowl of water, without us asking but the food was outstanding, surpassing anything we hoped to find on our day out. The fish and chips had a extremely light batter and cooked to perfection and the home cooked chips fab. The fish cake was on a salad with beurre blanc sauce - yum again with home cut chips. We then asked for balsamic and had the really thick and sweet vinegar I have not found in many places. The chocolate marquise and pear and apple crumble had the children in delight and the cheeseboard was just the right quantity of very tasty cheesesl. All in all a real success, as they also own a deli and butchers we immediately went on the website to purchase some of the delights we tried.
