Stayed for 3 nights for a walking break in May. Even though we got stuck in awful Bank Holiday traffic and arrived after the kitchen shut we were given a good-sized sandwich.
Very friendly staff (and a fascinating cast of characters in the bar), large, comfortable room (albeit with some interesting slopes to the floor due to the age of the place!).
Large clean comfortable room, great breakfast and very well kept local real ales.
The food was fine, and the carvery was good, but the menu was very old fashioned and limited and could do with some updating. If you're expecting haute cuisine probably not the place for you.
There was good walking direct from the inn, or drive west of Minehead and explore the coastal path towards Porlock - be warned the the 'rugged' path is VERY hilly and hard work.

Dear Ian. Many thanks for your comments. We are pleased that we were able to look after you after a long tiring journey! Local Characters in the bar I think makes a country pub! We have designed our menu to be exactly that -typical country "PUB" food, the chef gets to be experimental with his specials board, but we would rather not compete with restaurants for Haute cuisine! We hope you may come and see us again should you be in the area!

We were lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights as a gift from my mum and dad. The food was fantastic and the landlord could not do enough for us. Great breakfast and the room was more than comfortable. It's a great base for lots of exmoor exploring!

Really really enjoyed out stay. Can't wait to go back :) thanks to everyone that made our stay so great :)

Arrived rather late in the day, although had previously advised of this. Were greeted immediately by the Landlord and shown to our room.

A table had been held for our arrival in the restaurant, just in case.

Food was fresh and of a good standard.

Accommodation standard was certainly more than we had expected.

Landlord even invited our friends who we had met and live nearby, to join us for breakfast.

Warm welcome, good food, good ale and excellent service. Will certainly be stopping again.
