I had two nights at the Northfield whilst on a short business trip. The room was small but adequate although the television was very low on the wall! Service and food were excellent with everyone extremely pleasant and helpful. The swimming pool jacuzzi were a bonus but somewhat dated. All in all it was a very pleasant stay.

We were very impressed with the size of our room (deluxe) and all the extras – bathrobe, slippers, wine (only red), water, a good hospitality tray, iron and board in the hall etc– but it was cold! The radiators were on but needed bleeding as they were warm at the bottom but tepid at the top. I put on a further heater which was on the wall and the heated towel rail in the bathroom. It was then that I realised the bathroom was considerably colder than the room and a draught was coming from a window which could not be shut due to a broken catch. The view was lovely but the window frames were not sealed and had gaps which caused further cold air to seep through. We quickly headed off to the pool, jacuzzi and steam room to warm up! This was a great asset but the steam room only holds 2 people and needs updating.
Our meal in the bar in the evening was excellent and the staff are all very helpful and competent. Wifi worked well for the short time I needed to use it. However, we had considerable trouble getting the TV to work in the evening and by the morning we could not get any channel at all. At reception we were told that this was because the tide was in!
Breakfast was good but they had run out of croissants by the time we went to get them!
I would return, but only in the summer when I would not be relying on heating in the rooms and when I didn't want to watch TV.

Many thanks for taking the time to review us and are glad that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay and our staff. We just wish that when there is a problem guest's would speak to us during their stay so we could amend any problems rather than have you festering and not really enjoying your holiday, and then telling us on check-out when it is too late to make amends. The radiators did need bleeding which was a 2 minute job and the window sorted in 10 minutes which should have been done when the new bathroom was fitted two weeks ago!
We have had a good run of 5* reviews which have been more than generous in our eyes and we should really respond to all our reviews not just the negative ones, all we will say is that yours is the first comment about us being cold as when you walk through the front door you are met with a burst of heat, so we hope to welcome you back in the summer months for you to enjoy MInehead's charms and sunny climate again.

We hadn't stayed here for about 18 months, but the receptionist recognised us when we checked in. Nothing is too much trouble and they always ask if you can manage your luggage. Stewart and Chris, the new owners, are working really hard to give this hotel a much needed facelift. They have purchased some lovely new comfy chairs, super new beds and are having the bedrooms tastefully redecorated. Now they are refurbishing the bathrooms. The old house still retains it's charm and character but these improvements helped to make our stay even more enjoyable than before. It is a credit to the new owners that all the staff have continued to work there. The Ladies in Reception are very welcoming, answering any queries and always very kind and helpful. The chef and his staff cook the most delicious meals, with an excellent choice at breakfast and dinner. The Waiting staff are always polite and attentive and are certainly well informed about all the dishes on the menu. We didn't try the lunch menu as we ordered a packed lunch because we went out for the day every day we stayed there. Again an entensive variety of sandwiches, crisps and biscuits plus bottled water. The cleaning staff are a very happy team and keep all the rooms in the hotel absolutely spotless. The hotel is perfectly situated for Minehead, the sea and Exmoor and it is a joy to walk through the gardens as it is like a beautiful paradise. There is the added bonus of a lovely indoor pool and gym equipment etc. We will be back as soon as we can, so keep up the good work everyone, it is certainly paying off. Many thanks Ralph and Eileen Belcher.

This was the fifth year our group of seven have stayed at the hotel and once again we used it as a base for visiting the area, the rooms were clean and well furnished and the breakfast was very good, tried the pool and steam room each morning and found them excellent.

Room Tip: We had seven rooms this year and everyone was very happy with them

Last minute booking - phoned whilst on the road, was told by Sat Nav it was Best Western Hotel. In fact when I phoned was told not any more. Booked room for one night, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Could not find any faults, had an excellent room, was lovely and warm. Internet access was good and free. But only in certain rooms ask if you want it.
Food was very good and cooked to order. Staff very attentive. Many thanks will stay again
