As I was visiting through Business in the local area, I didn't get to explore the country-side, but I would suggest this is an ideal place to base yourself for a couple of days when in the area!
The owners are very friendly and welcoming, making sure you are comfortable and settled in, whilst also giving space to relax.
The room itself was very nice, comfortable bed and good en-suite. There is a small garden which has some chairs and table, so if the weather is nice its a relaxing area to sit or work.
Breakfast is excellent, with a huge choice on offer and everything cooked fresh.
Would definitely recommend staying if you are in the local area!

Great place to stay just outside of Dunster (3½ miles) and Minehead (4 miles) especially if you just want one night. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. You also get nice little private sections to either sit in the garden or on a balcony to admire the view of the hills in the distance. We will be staying again.

Very comfortable 2 night stay here. Pleased to be given the family sized accomodation which meant lots of space for us and our dog, Bailey. Slept very well and not disturbed by any traffic noise-just the cockerel in the morning! Plenty of hot water for the shower and grateful to have use of a heater and heated towel rail to get our wet things dry, although I think we could have asked for extra supplies of dog towels from our helpful, friendly hosts too. Excellent, tasty breakfast with delicious home made jams. Good local knowledge and great to be able to borow OS maps for walks. Would definitely recommend. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

My partner and I have just returned from our 5th stay at Steps in two years and as always came home refeshed, relaxed and with more memories of a lovely part of the country.....
Our hosts Julia and Tony instantly made us welcome as always and although never intrusive we know that they are around and a mine of information regarding places to go and things worth seeing (and booking a table at restaurants)
After a great nights sleep in the incredibly comfy bed you wake to the sound of birds singing and head to the farmhouse for a superb breakfast of cereals, fruit salad, fresh toast (with Julias home made jams) followed by either the full English, kippers or perfect porridge, all washed down with juice and fresh coffee... sets you up for the day!
Perfect place for peace and quiet with the real world a short drive away!

My brother and I were visiting Minehead and stayed overnight after sorting out some family business. The proprietors of this B & B could not have done more to make sure our stay was comfortable. The room was warm and bed comfy. It was exceptionally clean with plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. I had a good nights sleep followed by a lovely filling breakfast, just the thing to set you off the next morning! I would not hesitate to recommend Steps to my friends and if I need to stay in the area again, will certainly stay again - I just hope there will be room! Full marks to Tony and Julia :)

My sister and myself had family business in Minehead and thought that we would need to stay for the night to get everything sorted. (ironically we got everything sorted a lot quicker than we expected and wouldn't actually have needed to stay over)
We selected this place off the website and are glad we did
A lovely place to stay which was made all the better by the friendly attention and service from the owners for whom nothing was too much trouble
The room was absolutely perfect with plenty of drinks making facilities and the breakfast absolutely delicious
The only small criticism I have is the rather tight angle of the car park which needs some care to negotiate but this would be nit-picking
All in all a great place to stay and amazingly quiet considering it is on the main road

My colleague and I stayed at Steps as we were visiting The West Somerset Railway which was by at Washford and we found Julia and Tony friendly and helpful. When we checked in at 6.00 we were offered tea and coffee which was brought to our room (no 4) outside the main house in the converted barn. The room was clean and comfortable with a good shower room and twin beds (to which we both slept well after visiting Porlock),extra heating from a small heater and complimentary tea and coffee. The only draw back with our room is to mind your head when you walk in the front door (I bumped it twice as there is no sign above the door to remind you).

Early in the morning they very kindly arranged our breakfast for 8.00 to which the food was very good (fresh fruit, choice of cereals, selection of jams and cooked full English).
The cark park is good and the garden is pretty.
