This is a lovely hotel where we received a warm welcome. It's an old building, and we had a rooms behind the courtyard at the back which was very comfortable. The building and gardens are great, tasteful and welcoming. Restaurant is good. Breakfast wonderful.
Only downside is that because the hotel is next to the road there is some traffic noise.

We found this accommodation when looking for a last minute short break. The cottage (attached to the hotel) was very clean, modern open-plan interior with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Lovely crisp white bed linen with towels supplied. Kitchen had everything you needed, microwave, toaster etc., even a bone china tea-pot!
We had one delicious meal at the hotel restaurant; staff very friendly.
You step out of the front door to the hotel's pretty little courtyard set with tables and chairs and umbrellas - a perfect place to sit and read or have a cup of tea, weather permitting of course! Despite being on the A39 the noise of the traffic was not a problem and being near to the steam railway line meant you occasionally heard the puffing of the steam train.
The only downside to the location was that there were no pavements or footpaths so not ideal for anyone wanting to walk direct from the hotel/cottage.
Overall we would definitely return if we were staying in the area again.

Dragon House has so much character and the food was excellent. I had a lovely room at the top of the house and my parents had a room the floor below me which was complete with their own sitting room and claw foot bath. Everything you needed was supplied and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had during our 4 week tour of England. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in Somerset.

Short break here of three nights, cannot fault the hotel, room, staff, food or anything really really great. Quaint with character describes it best, yes it's old & creaky (who isn't) but that's character! We had room 6 and was very clean indeed under/behind bed etc spotless. Breakfast wonderful and we ate there one evening much to our delight. We will definitely be returning.

We stayed at this hotel over the June bank holiday weekend for 4 nights. The place is full of character and we loved our room (including the tea making facilities for which mugs were supplied instead of fiddly cups and saucers!). We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was fantastic so we also ate there one other evening. The breakfasts were also lovely and served at convenient times. We found the bar cosy and appreciated somewhere welcoming to sit in the evenings. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we couldn't fault it. We booked through bookings.com and were pleased with the deal we got. The location of the hotel is also ideal for taking in all that there is to do in the area. I would definitely recommend this hotel and the surrounding area.

Arrived for a long weekend to be shown this rather cute little cottage in the courtyard of the Dragon House Hotel and Restaurant (easy to find on the A39). Great for self catering with a kitchen that had everything you needed but we still opted to dine in the restaurant that evening. Our food was lovely, scallops cooked to perfection, my partners sauce...divine...I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again. Cottage was clean and had this lovely olde worlde charm. There was just the two of us this time but I wouldn't hesitate to share with another couple to make this an absolute bargain for a long weekend.
Nearby Dunster and it's castle is well worth a visit. Fancy a curry while you're there? Alcombe Tandoori, a short drive away fitted the bill.

A bit better than the 3 stars I gave it but not quite 4 stars !

The place is really old (1700 and something) It's an authentic old coach house; I half expected to see Dick Turpin in the bar and a ghost on the landing (but there wasn't either) There isn't a straight wall or level floor in the place - it's really charactersome. Some of the doors don't fit right because the building has warped so much over the centuries and the walls are 2 feet thick. If you stay here you are experiencing history - the genuine thing; so forget the minimalism of a modern hotel; this is real ! American visitors should give this a try; this place is much older than your country and you'll love the place.

Just let down (by half a star) on a few details: The carpets in the foyer and stairs were a bit dirty (well used) and there's paint flaking from some of the old iron radiators in the room but the room was otherwise clean, in good order and HUGE ! The room was a bit too dark for me personally (deep red décor) but I understand the rooms are all different. We couldn’t get a mobile phone signal on the Vodafone network and as we were on business it was a little inconvenient; it was OK in the car park. The ensuite was nice and the power shower worked when we figured out that you have to turn on the electric at a switch near the door. There wasn’t a plug socket anywhere near a mirror which made drying hair difficult.

Breakfast was pretty good with some local sausage, bacon and eggs from the on-site hens. Breakfast cereals and fruit juice, toast and jams with a lovely pot of tea made it a good way to start the day. The dining room is really chic, the people friendly and very helpful too.

The sun was shining and it was most pleasant. Out front is a charming green with a little duck pond. Out the back are a huge garden and a lovely balcony overlooking it.

I’d stay here again !
