“Simply the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

I traveled in England from north to south this March and ended my little tour in Minehead. I couldn't have chosen a better B&B for those last few days! Minehead was still a bit winter-sleepy but the owners of The Old Stables gave me perfect tips what to do and see around town and Exmoor. And I fell completely in love with the area... - The guesthouse was a luxury one, my room with a seaview was huuuge (I travel alone) and very cosy. I slept like baby! And to be honest I was not surprised to find the breakfast just lovely. I'm going to keep coming back. The Old Stables is simply the best B&B I've ever stayed.

Without a doubt, the best Bed and Breakfast (B&B) we have ever stayed in. Stayed for 2 nights in mid May 2014 and couldn't fault anything. Hosts were excellent and always had a smile when we met. Breakfast was perfect. Best scrambled egg we have ever tasted.

Positioned less than 5 minutes walk to the sea front and the same distance to the high street. Plenty of shops restaurants and bars. Hosts advised us to have a ride to Lynmouth. The road is spectacular and views to die for.

We will definitely return for a walking holiday on the Moors.

Room Tip: Dont bother looking anywhere else.

Found this place via the local internet search. What a stunning place, definitely our sort of place. Clean, crisp, friendly, helpful & just the right amount of attention. From taking your shoes off when you arrive it is a true luxury home from home. We had a double downstairs, which was very large, but comfortable with views over the very pretty courtyard at the rear, triple aspect. Stunning shower room with every lotion & potion you could possibly need. We ate dinner on the main street at The Wheel House, which was lovely home cooked fresh food. Very nice owners. Little noise from upstairs room from guests coming in during the night. We were up early, so took a stroll down to the front for a walk for half an hour before breakfast. Which was lush, hubby had the full English whilst I had scrambled egg & smoked salmon, delicious. Fresh coffee & a pot of tea, oatty flapjacks, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit & more, I could have stayed all morning!!! Will definitely returning in a couple of months. Thank you both. The Wards. Combined with the relaxing surroundings, sea views, excellent food, and friendly professional hosts, this bed and breakfast is quality in every way. The rooms are beautifully kept and of an excellent standard and the owners can give advice on local attractions and the many different walking routes across the surrounding somerset countryside. My stay at the old stables was perfect and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for high quality with a lovely friendly touch.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent quality with lots of space.

I travel regularly within the UK to get out of London and hike in national parks and in the countryside in general, and I have been to a quite a few nice B&Bs. This one was remarkably good. The rooms are big, white and immaculate, with soft carpets and designer furniture. They really are as nice as they look like in the picture! The hosts Nina and William are lovely and helpful, and their breakfast is a treat not to be missed. Exmoor National park walking tracks start from just around the corner from the Old Stables - and so do the Minehead pubs and restaurants. There is a beer garden & pub with great Thai food literally across the road, so you don't need to save a lot of energy to find dinner, either. Search no further, this is your place!

Have you experienced that moment when you suspect your holiday will be ruined because you had to book your accommodation at the last moment and you didn't really believe the photos on the web would match reality? I had that concern last week when my friends and I booked two nights at The Old Stables Bed and Breakfast at Minehead. The photos showed lovely clean white rooms. The site promised extras including bath towels, mini-bar, chocolates, goose-down duvets and central heating. Reviews spoke of superb breakfasts, friendly hosts and home comfort. Too good to be true? The Old Stables Bed and Breakfast is all of the above and much more. This is what a home away from home should always be like. Situated at the Eastern edge of the Exmoor National Park, one street from the esplanade and close enough to the town centre to provide access to facilities without the noise. And finally, those breakfasts... what a way to start a day of walking or sightseeing. Hard to fault. Just about perfection.

Room Tip: One of the upstairs rooms is a double - with two single beds. Perfect for children but may not be qu...
