So myself, my wife and 2 young children had booked with butlins for tots break and being our first time we were a little apprehensive with what to expect .. As we arrived in to guest services to check in we we're greeted by a very bubbly and happy member of staff called Rachel who was very helpful and interacted with the children very well telling them all about splash world .. Once we had found our accommodation we were very pleasantly surprised with the standard of cleanliness in the rooms and bathroom. Our children absolutely adored the skyline gang and Billy Bear. We ate In almost all of the eating places across resort but the one that really stood out for us was the sun and moon where we we're greeted by a very smiley and happy waitress called Taylor who looked after us brilliantly!! Nothing was to much trouble for her and the way she was with the children was outstanding she really went out of her way playing with them and making sure they had colouring to do and we had plenty to eat and drink, she was such a pleasure!! Abbie our oldest loved Pizza Hut because of the amount of ice cream she could eat and sky our waitress in there was really polite and friendly. I would recommend butlins to all my friends and family with young children cause the resort is safe and child friendly, the staff are amazing and over all just such a good family holiday, will definitely be going back next year!!

I was very nervous after reading some of the reviews on here but thankfully I was pleasantly surprised. The accommodation (silver bungalow) was spotlessly clean on arrival and the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings were all new. The only bad bits were the huge amount of cigarette butts everywhere and a broken light outside our room. The resort itself was very clean, there was a huge cleaning presence wherever you were, cleaning tables/floors ect ect, so I would say Butlins really go above and beyond to keep the resort clean and tidy.

My partner and kids loved Splashdown and went everyday, the space bowl was very popular. They also did the high ropes and this was a great activity.

The fairground was also a big hit with my 10 and 13 year old and the 3 year old loved the carousel and the kiddie fair.

We didn't eat at the resort so can't review the food, we used nearby Morrisons and self catered.

The beach is a very short walk away and we had great weather so went everyday.

The evening entertainment was very good, we had the B line fast passes and to us they weren't really worth it but I imagine they would be better if it was the school holidays. The shows get really busy and there's an odd smell (cheesy feet although my partner thought it was the carpet cleaner!) but the quality of the entertainment was great, Scooby Doo was good fun.

As a family with a baby, 3, 10 and 13 year old, Butlins was ideal for us as there was so much to do (too much, I'm exhausted!) and something for everyone. It's definitely the best resort of it's type (we've done other caravan parks over the years). If you want to eat and drink there I imagine it could be very costly but we managed to have a great time and keep the cost down.

We booked a sun paper holiday and for the money we had a great time. The appartment was ok it a bit outdated but was clean and they even gave us a little bottle of washing up liquid, sponge and tea towel. The cooking utensils were lacking a bit but we managed for the 4 days we were there.
We took our 18 months old and the resort was great for a toddler there was several parks to play in and an indoor play area with a bouncy castle which he loved. The kids shows were great and the evening entertainment was good too. The indoor and outdoor pools were both lots of fun. My son especially loved the slides. The resort was clean and there was lots to do even with a young child. We will definitely go again.

The entertainment at butlins was it's only redeeming feature and to be fair I can't fault it, but the accommodation was damp tiny uncomfortable and bare. There was constantly work being done everywhere which was disturbing and not exactly special feeling, the maid left our door open on one occasion and our windows wide every time. Immediately the food plan dining was not to our standard, cold rubbery and terrible choice in a busy canteen, and our request to be removed from that option was dealt with badly. There is nothing to do with under 3s really and our youngest spent much of the time unhappy in her pushchair. I would feel guilt at the thought of anyone going there that I hadn't warned.

Don't be fooled by the accommodation photos on the Butlins website, on arriving at Butlins Minehead, we found the appartment in a disgusting state. The landing outside the appartment looked like it had been doused in lager, cigarette ash and eggshells!?? The carpet in the living room were wet through in areas and also badly stained in other areas. The side of the coffee table was missing, the sofa and dining chairs were sticky, the fridge had no shelves, no drawer and no door on the freezer compartment, there were hairs on the dining table, toenails on the carpets and the whole apartment smelt of urine and cigarette smoke. There weren't any mattress protectors on the beds and the quilts looked about 20 years old. I decided to try and clean the appartment so we would be able to stay, but couldn't as there wasn't any running water! We asked for our money back as we couldn't face the idea of staying. Got a partial refund of £88 for the 4 night stay we had paid for. We will never go to Butlins again. Disgusting!

We returned today from a mon-fri break which we booked through Sun holidays. We stayed in a standard self catering apartment. Being used to caravans, we were pleasantly surprised by room sizes. When we checked in we were given a page with address, a site map & a what's on guide.
No list of places to eat (so didn't know we could have gone in at least one of the foodhalls)
Our first impression was of no water coming out of taps & no signal to tv but got fixed quickly. Also a window opposite us was smashed, though it was repaired in a couple of days.
It looked like there had been a fairly recent revamp.
Kitchen looked new but was let down by the sloping floor which combined with dodgy fridge door hinges & lack of feet meant the fridge door didn't open properly unless we tipped the fridge back.
Kettle had the usual limescale.
Shower had usual rubbish pressure & shower door was hard to shut, perhaps due to having wobbly perspex in? Mattresses were hard.
Single glazing meant we could hear every noise outside.
Curtains being on poles looked nice but in terms of keeping light out were a bit like a chocolate teapot.
Pizza Hut was ok.
Sun and Moon meals were rather stingy considering what they charge, but convenient as kids can play in one of 2 play areas while waiting.
Splash was great but toddler pool small.
Kids loved outdoor paddling pool too.
Beach just over the road. .But if you need buckets & spades etc go to Indoor Market not kiosk by beach as they charge twice as much!
Tesco & Morrisons within walking distance, as was town centre for us.
Our 4.5 year old enjoyed rides inside & out. However there wasn't that much that our 3 year old was brave enough or big enough to go on.
Soft play area shut at 7 ish despite it being in skyline.
Fair & swimming pool shut at 5 which was too early if you were looking for something to do.
We didn't really see much in the way of the entertainment, though Freddie is good if you don't expect to see a Queen impressionist.
Kids disco on at stupid time ie when a lot of people would be eating tea, so we didn't really make them, which was a shame as our little girl likes to have a boogie.
We went to one 'disco' half way through & all we saw was a redcoat quiz..not really my definition of a disco..perhaps they need to consult a dictionary.
We went in to Reds one night & walked back out as it smelled absolutely disgusting, even our young children were holding their noses!!
Centre Stage was much better although it was quite hot in there.
Being from the coast we are used to seagulls & know that feeding them is like feeding rats.
Unfortunately they seemed to be a novelty to some guests who thought it a good idea to feed them. Perhaps some signage would be a good idea.

All in all we had a lovely break & would go back but maybe when the kids are a little older & can stay up a bit later.
Would be interested to see what the other accommodation looks like

Our first ever trip to Butlins and we are not likely to go again. We're to start. We booked our family holiday this year at Butlins Minehead. A place that needs a lot of maintenance, everything is tatty, especially the apartments. They are building new ones off to one side, maybe they intend to replace them all! If your taking a baby as we did be warned you will have to hire a cot and a high chair nothing is included in the price. The beds are rock hard there was no mattress with the travel cot that we had to hire. No one received a good nights sleep..... If you are taking your little ones for all the rides remember this, our four year old couldn't go on 90% off the rides because she was not 1.1m high she is only 1m. The entertainment was very sterile and felt forced. Our little one got very board. As you might expect food and drink is both average (fast food!) and expensive. The only saving grace for our holiday was the beautiful Sunshine. If it had been a wet holiday we would have gone home. This is average at best, if your paying top dollar you will regret it. We are going back to Centre Parks next year.

Hi Andy B

Thank you for leaving an honest review. Guest feedback helps us to see if we are maintaining the high standards we set ourselves.

We will share all the comments you have made with the respective teams so that they can act upon them.

We have to apply height restrictions to our Fairground rides for safety reasons, but hopefully you found the Tots Indoor Fairground, which has rides that cater especially for our smaller guests.

Thanks again
