Description: The Apple Tree Tearooms is to be found half way up the tree-lined avenue in Minehead. Serving a healthy cooked breakfast, soups, jacket potatoes, toasties, sandwiches and baguettes and salads and Ploughmans. Luscious home-made cream teas, cakes, cookies and slices make this venue a mecca for visitors and locals alike. Boasting a colourful interior and equally delightful al fresco tea garden, this café is ideally suited to families with young children, as children's books, toys and treasure hunts are provided. There is good disabled access and facilities. Oh, and dogs are also most welcome -they are offered dog blankets, treats and water bowls (as long as they are owners are well-behaved).

“Absolutely perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

We recently visited Minehead and stopped here for lunch - if only there were more places like it! What a welcome, fabulous food, excellent customer service and beautiful decor inside with a fantastic garden to the rear. Perhaps you guys should buy out one of the large coffee chains and show them how it is done!
Great place for dogs too who would also like me to say that they enjoyed the customer service, fresh water and treats. Woof
When we are next in the area we won't hesitate in stopping in and will make sure we are hungry. Well done to you both, what a welcome exception to the norm.

Well, what can we say? We certainly enjoyed entertaining the three most important individuals in your party – namely the hounds! What a great idea you had about a ‘doggy platter’. We shall be looking into that for next season. We were delighted you too had a rewarding experience and after your afternoon visit we felt just a little smug with all the praise. It set us up for the following day and there’s no greater compliment we can pay you in return. Many thanks.

Thank you very much for your comment. If you get the chance to come and see us again, try the fruit scones. While they’re a recent addition they are already a big hit – and we’d value your opinion. Thanks again!

“Absolutely Heavenly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

We have visited these tea rooms twice within the last 6 weeks, on both occasion we sat in the rear garden and really enjoyed the surrounding in peace and quiet.
But most importantly the quality of the products namely the Gluten Free options - the apple & pecan tart is to die for. The staff go out of thier way to make you feel welcome, definately one of the best team rooms we have visited in a long time. Look forward to our trip next year.

The apple & pecan slice has been a hit with a lot of people – even those who don’t require a gluten-free option. It took some doing but we think we’ve hit on a winning formula here. Next time take a look at the marvellous (but VERY filling) gluten-free flapjack slices. It’s so satisfying when special dietary needs can be seamlessly incorporated into the general menu – then everyone feels included! Thank you for your feedback – we really appreciate it … and see you next year.

“a delightfully relaxing atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2013

Possibly my favorite cafe in MInehead!

Delicious home baked cakes and mouthwatering cream teas with a choice of succulent Strawberry, ravishing Raspberry or wonderful Whortleberry and if you cant decide... then you'll have to try all three!

This is a lovely place to sit and relax and with the hidden secluded garden through the back you are sure to find some peace and quite.

Prices are great too! All I need now is a day to spend there with a good book and a coffee!

They do cooked food too... another reason for me to keep going back o try more of their yummy menu!

WOW! What a wonderful review! We can never say it enough but ‘Thank You’. As mentioned in other replies we do try to give the best possible service we can and hit all the right spots. When you return bring that book and we’ll reserve you a special place to hunker down and get reading.

“Relaxing, very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

This little cafe has recently been taken over from Anita and Jim who were the previous owners. I preferred the previous decor, that was bright, clean, fresh and delightful.
We also miss Jim's pleasant and friendly banter.
The new owners work very hard to serve customers promptly and Naomi works extremely hard to clear the tables and serve the customers, she is also very polite.
The food is delicious and the cakes are very moreish.
I don't like the new decor, it's dated, cluttered and old fashioned, just like sitting in a second hand shop; not what I want to sit amongst whilst eating.
There is also less room for people with a disability; this is not acceptable.
However there is plenty of space at the tables to the front of the cafe and tables in the garden to the rear.
Outside looks fresh, pleasant and welcoming.

Thank you for your considered review. Well, it just goes to show you can’t please all the people all the time. The vast majority of visitors have been very enthusiastic about the changes made, and we haven’t finished yet! We strive to make the interior as disabled-friendly as possible even moving furniture to accommodate motorized wheelchairs when required (as we did only this last week). The style term we prefer to coin is “vintage” rather than “old fashioned” but there you go. In fact Anita so liked the changes we made she wanted to know where we got the comfy chairs from!
