The only down side to this break was only being there for a few days, hope to go again for a bit longer next time. Room was lovely, with a sea veiw, very good disabled access in room and through out Hotel. Food excellent. Was a pleasure to be in the company of the staff and young learners, a very inspirational experience. Thank you

Stayed here for 5 nights in April 2013. We found every member of staff that we came into contact with was very friendly, happy to chat, and always helpful. Our room was called Quaytown and was on the front corner of the building with a bay window. Our view was gorgeous! We were lucky that the weather was fine but if not, we could have quite happily sat at the table and chairs in front of the window, read our books and enjoyed the view. Room was a good size, with everything we needed. There was a large lounge with plenty of comfy sofas and chairs for relaxing, and a bar area. Breakfast was usual hotel fare, but well cooked and with good choice. We had dinner on 2 nights and found the food to be very good indeed, although I have to agree with an earlier reviewer that the choice was limited. On one night we had a choice of only 2 main courses. I understand that this was a quiet time of year, but to avoid wasting food, perhaps they could think about asking guests to choose their dinner at breakfast time, so that they could offer a bit more choice without too much waste. Just a suggestion! The learners did an excellent job waiting on in the dining room and cleaning our room - well done to them! Special thanks also to Sue on Reception who was very helpful when we left our camera on a bench on the sea front. The finder handed it in to the Police, which was a pleasant surprise, and Sue was a great help with getting it back. Overall a lovely hotel, doing a worthwhile job, and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room at the front - amazing views.

Dear Guest,
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us so much and we hope to welcome you back again in the future. I note your comments about the lack of choice in relation to the evening menu. I can assure you that we are currently working on enhancing the menu choices, which will enable customers to have a variety of options and we will continue to provide food and service to our same high standards. As per our previous Trip Advisor response, if any guest has a specific request in relation to their meals we will do our utmost to accommodate them.
We are also overjoyed to hear that you and your camera were reunited!
Kind regards,
The Manager.

We had always wanted to visit having seen the TV program about the Hotel.
It is easy to find as it's right on the seafront and has ample free parking.
We took the mother in law and booked two adjoining rooms for a couple of nights staying half board. Our double room was a bit on the small side with views towards the harbour however the mother in laws twin room was more like a suite with views across the whole seafront and harbour. The dinner was limited in choice but the quality of food was very good with attentive service.
The large and comfortable residents lounge also enjoys lovely views of the seafront.
This is probably the friendliest hotel that we have ever stayed at. All of the core staff are so enthusiastic about what they do and are eager to tell you about the place.
A days visit to nearby Dunster and it's castle made this a delightful short break.
Well done Foxes keep up the good work.

Dear Guest,
It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time here at Foxes. I note your points about the size of the room and the slightly limited choice on the menu. In relation to the room we do have larger rooms, as you quite rightly pointed out, but as you wished to be near your mother this was the most suitable room that also afforded you our wonderful views of the bay. In respect of the limited menu, it is true that we have a little less choice. This is because we want the students here to be able to deliver the highest standards possible and to gain the necessary skills and ability. We do however take into consideration the requirements of any guest and are happy to fulfill their needs if possible.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Foxes in the near future.

This was without doubt 1 of the highlights of over 30 years of eating out. The set 3 course menu was varied and had enough choice to provide me with a dilema, Fish which I love or meat which I had decided on before I arrived. Fish won. The food was excellent, cooked to perfection. The service was fast, efficient and courtious. And always with a smile.

Mothers day is always a bit special, and Foxes made sure that it was extra special...Hope they do the same on fathers Day

I cannot praise this venue strongly enough.

We have just returned from a pleasant stay at Foxes.

Let me begin by saying that this is much more than just another seaside hotel. It has two purposes and one is as a training establishment for people with learning impairments. It is also a working hotel and as such, it compares very favorably with others of the same type. We really reckoned that it provides a really valuable service to our community in the way it trains and enables young adults with learning difficulties to be able to stand on their own two feet, to earn their own livings, to be able to live independently and to be given a chance of building a brighter future for themselves. For this reason alone, it should be supported. Putting all this to one side, it was a very competent hotel as well. No problems here. Our room was lovely and had a really nice view over the "sea" front at Minehead. It was nicely decorated and furnished although the building itself was of yester-year.

There were a couple of minor negatives. The weather was pretty cold and our room had neither central heating or double glazing. When I commented on this to the Manager (who was charming) she told me that the building was listed and it would not be economically possible to fit double glazing to the facade. I would imagine that there is little point in centrally heating an old building that has such a massive heat loss. The other minor grumble that could be economically fixed was the wi-fi only worked in the public areas on the ground floor and even then did not have full functionality.

We did not eat in the hotel for our evening meal but we did have breakfast there. It was fulsome, well presented and of a much better standard than might have been expected.

All in all, it is a very special place indeed. Before staying there, I had imagined that it would have been necessary to make allowances because of the type of training place that it also was. This was far from the case and if you want to "do your bit" for a social "good cause" as well as staying in a well run place, I would have no hesitation to recommend the place. If you just want somewhere to stay whilst ignoring its other purpose, it is equally as good and valid.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so very much for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and we thank you for your honest feedback. In response to the comments about the room, we do turn the heaters on in each room well in advance of any guests arriving and if the room is still not warm enough we do have extra heaters for your use. However, I do recall the weekend of your visit and it was particularly cold! In relation to the wifi issue, we are continuing to work on this and hope to have quicker, better access in the near future.

Again, we thank you for your comments and we look forward to your next visit here at Foxes.

We stayed at Foxes Hotel with our family (2 small children) and were very pleasantly surprised by the standard and cleanliness of the bedrooms. The hotel staff were so accommodating with our request for an additional bed within the bedroom and we had a great outlook over Mineheads beautiful seafront. There was plenty of food choice at breakfast and the restaurant was spotless which is really important to me as travelling with youngsters. I found the staff charming and the students (young adults with special needs) were very welcoming and especially good with our children.

The location of the hotel is perfect for families and couples who are staying within Minehead as you are just a short walk into the town centre and just a minutes walk from the beach, mini golf and arcades.

We would definitely recommend staying at Foxes.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with dual aspect - lovely views of the seafront!!!
