Description: Historic Harbour side Pub Inn & Hotel. A landmark building with its history of hospitality going back over 100 years. Our atmospheric restaurant and pub food experience will be very much 'River Cottage' style with Seafood, Fresh Fish, Local Farm Produce, Seasonal ingredients, Carvery, Kids Menu Not forgetting Celiac gluten free, dairy free there is lots of choice. If we cannot grow it or raise it on our farm, you can be sure it is locally sourced and the very best of quality. From home smoked bacon to our own baked breads you won't go hungry. Alfresco eating with beautiful scenic views. Great Beers & Wines. Cosy in winter with a real fire. Completely refurbished during the summer of 2013

Julian and Gina have done an excellent job in turning this pub around. It is in a good location overlooking Minehead harbour and serves a good selection of food. The special pie and mash night on a Thursday is not to be missed. They even do a veggie or fish pie for me as they know I don't eat meat! We now visit this restaurant on a regular basis - usually twice a week and have also taken friends there who have been staying in the area. One couple of our friends chose to stay there after we had taken them there for a meal and they said they had a lovely room and good breakfast and would certainly stay there again when visiting Minehead. We are so grateful that Julian and Gina have put so much work into making this a good pub/restaurant again. It is certainly an asset to the area.

This was an impromptu visit, and after a few drinks not only were the staff rude, the customers were homophobic!!!!!!

One member of staff referred to a male member of our party as a girl for drinking tea in a pub, and then additionally commented when she realised that it was in fact two pots of tea. This is surely unacceptable in any establishment but on a busy sunny Sunday afternoon mid summer if all customers are treated so appallingly then they will be out of business in the very near future!!!!!!!!

We were having a really pleasant afternoon and even having banter with a regular there, Nina

We will not be visiting again

Firstly let me start off by apologizing for your visit - rest assured that we strive very hard to give all our guests an enjoyable experience as you can see from other reviews. Clearly this was not achieved. I am investigating how this could have happened, perhaps you would like to contact me personally on julian@oldshipaground.com so that I can both try and rectify what happened and keep you informed on how the investigation is progressing - I look forward to hearing from you again very soon.

We had an hour to kill, and stomachs to fill, waiting for a train. We took a walk down the Avenue, and didn't see anywhere to inspire us. So we headed along the harbour, and walked in.

We were given a friendly welcome, and served at our table with drinks as well as food - nice touch, no queuing at the bar. I had a plate of whitebait, and we shared a bucket of chips with garlic mayo - very tasty. Also tasty was the couple of pints of Cotleigh Brewery's finest, used to wash it down.

Friendly, clean, and good value for money.
