Description: Historic Harbour side Pub Inn & Hotel. A landmark building with its history of hospitality going back over 100 years. Our atmospheric restaurant and pub food experience will be very much 'River Cottage' style with Seafood, Fresh Fish, Local Farm Produce, Seasonal ingredients, Carvery, Kids Menu Not forgetting Celiac gluten free, dairy free there is lots of choice. If we cannot grow it or raise it on our farm, you can be sure it is locally sourced and the very best of quality. From home smoked bacon to our own baked breads you won't go hungry. Alfresco eating with beautiful scenic views. Great Beers & Wines. Cosy in winter with a real fire. Completely refurbished during the summer of 2013

One of us had been here a year ago and wanted to return to this great pub at the far end of Minehead.
The landlord and barman were welcoming to two obvious visitors though the rest of the clientele were definitely locals.
The beer on tap was good and there was a wide selection of bar food available. This was a relief as the restaurant area was full, again with locals, so we knew we had made the right choice for the evening.

Have eaten here a couple of times since the new owners came in, with the 2nd visit being to see if this meal was going to be better than the 1st time i ate there - which it wasn't unfortunately.
I had rabbit meatballs / faggots ? for the starter, followed by game hot pot for main.
Rabbit starter was rather small even as a starter and not the tastiest of things, and the 'game' hot pot only had a few bits of meat in it. More of a vegetable hot pot I would say which was a real shame as I love rabbit and most other game. Minehead just needs 1 really good eating place and they would make a killing. In my opinion The Old Ship Aground is on parr with most other eating places in Minehead - nothing out of the ordinary.

Rest assured of our intent to improve - we will without any quibble change any meal that a customer is not happy with, and with this mind every diner at the Old Ship Aground is asked if they are happy with their meal. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your refreshments, but would be delighted to welcome you back again very soon to see how we have improved.

We organised a lunch celebration for 40 guests. The food ( buffet hot and cold ) exceeded our expectations and our wish for an informal, casual occasion was met with friendly and unobtrusive staff for whom nothing was too much.
Our relatives who stayed overnight enthused over the breakfasts and found the rooms comfortable and Clean.

The Old Ship Aground is in a lovely and quiet part of Minehead, just by the old harbour - quite a romantic spot. My wife and I found the staff to be welcoming and friendly, the food of a good standard for pub food, and I enjoyed the real ales! It's a pity that Tripadvisor doesn't have a GOOD rating as this was on the better side of average. We shall probably return for a bite to eat next time we're in the area.
