The pub is on the main A39 a few miles out of Minehead. Residents can park in the car park on the same side as the pub. The car park opposite is not a problem if you walk 50 yards down the road and enter through the beer garden. The garden is nicely landscaped with patio area and a small adventure play area. Pleasant and not at all tacky. The place is under new management 6 months in and it is obvious that the new proprietors are making a real effort. The food portions are generous and the toiletries in the room are too. The place is very clean and well kept. I can only see this improving further as the landlord beds in further. My room was simple but comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. The road only a minor irritation. It was hot so I had the window open, but the traffic was not heavy. For £35 with a very generous full English breakfast, excellent value. Pop down to Dunster, just down the road and see if you can get a room for under £100 PP. The are some lovely walks through the village and up into the hills. Dunster through the deer park is just over a mile way. The pub its self is 1600'S and though at first glance the from the outside you could easily pass it by as late Victorian, however internally its a real gem. When I stayed there was a really nice feel to the atmosphere with plenty of local using the pub, a sign of a good pub. All in all, good service, nice staff and value for money. I wouldn't hesitate in staying again.
