A very warm welcome with tea, coffee and biscuits. A comfortable farmhouse bedroom with en suite bathroom (with shower) that suited us well. Evening meals were arranged when booking and were excellent. Wednesday evenings are cooks night off, so up to the local pub for some good food there. Exmoor provides an ever changing landscape and the lanes to test your driving ability. Not least is ones ability to get into the B&B from the south.
A perfect place to act as base camp for Exmoor walks, fancy gardens and a rugged coastline.

My Husband & I are regular travellers to somerset and have a good local knowledge of hotels, cottages, pubs, walks, etc. We where looking for somewhere to base ourselves ( & doggy) that had plenty of space & in the middle Exmoor so we could shot about to all the lovely villages easily. We never stay at the same place twice as we feel you can always find better if you search about. Im really glad we have this mentality as if we didnt we would never have found this little gem of a place.
First off this is like home from home. Farningham lodge is fully equiped to a very high standard with a lovely garden looking over the hills of Somerset. The farm is great with chickens, sheep, pigs, all roaming around in the lovely hills outside your private gardens. We choose self catering so did not eat at many restaurants but I can recommend the pub 2 mins away for decent home cooked pub grub. Go to the royal oak at luxborough for restaurant style food in a lovely pub setting.
Also you must visit Dulverton which is 10 mins away as the shops, butches, fruit veg are excellent quality if your cooking at home.
Overall Top Quality Farm, Perfect for a couple of weeks / short break, no better in this area.

The accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The location must rate as one of the most beautiful in England. The service we received was excellent and we felt welcome, as nothing appeared to be too much trouble. We've already booked to come back again.

This is a great place to chill out and a good centre from which to travel around across Somerset, Devon and Dorset.

We have just spent 3 nights at North Wheddon Farm. From the minute we arrived to a very warm welcome we were completely at ease. Rachael and Julian are very laid back hosts but all your needs are catered for. The relaxed breakfasts were delicious and there is an excellent friendly Pub a 5 min walk away with good food - remember to take the provided torch - thankfully Exmoor does not have many street lights and it is a long dark lane back to the farm!!!! The icing on the cake was the meal we had at the farm on the last night - I have never tasted 'real' pork (from the North Wheddon pigs). Julian also smokes his own salmon and bacon. The farm animals were a delight and the skies were blue for the whole of our stay so we saw Exmoor at its best .

There's always a warm welcome from Rachael and Julian, and the combination of homely comforts, fine food using home produce and the stunning Exmoor landscape on a delightful family farm is a winner every time. Thoroughly recommended if you're looking to get away from the bustle of everyday life.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
North Wheddon Farm is an ideal base to access the Exmoor and Devon area with it's fantastic beaches and stunning scenery just minutes way. We offer superb bed and breakfast accommodation within the farmhouse. In the grounds of the farm we have two self-catering properties, the Farthingwood Barn and the Eden Lodge. Here at North Wheddon we love to cook and are proud of our reputation. Food is very much 'River Cottage' style. If we can not grow it or raise it here on the farm, you can be sure it is locally sourced and the very best of quality. From home smoked bacon to our own Aga baked breads you won't go hungry. ... more   less
