Six of us called Sunday afternoon for late Sunday lunch, had a drink in the bar first and should have taken it as a sign when the barman said they had run out of ice and had to go to the cellar to restock one of the beers we wanted. We went through to the restaurant to find the barman was also the restaurant waiter - we jokingly hoped he wasn't also the chef! He was very friendly and helpful and looked slightly embarrased when he told us one of the things we ordered wasn't available. When the food eventually came (around 35 minutes for the starters and even longer between courses) it was fine. It tasted fresh but there was no bread with the prawn cocktail and the promised bread basket never arrived. Our mains were very nice and the vegetables cooked to perfection as were the deserts. The meal was excellent value - 3 courses for around £10 just much too slow.

Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. Would highly recommend. Yes the building is old but that's part of the charm and onbience.

Visited today as part of the Huddersfield Food Festival restaurant trail. It was late in the day, but the food was fresh and the staff were enthusiastic and geniune. You got our vote, and we'll definitely be back. Thank you very much!

I stayed here with my mum & my sister & was joined by other family members for dinner. From the moment we checked in I was very disappointed with the service received. The recptionist was rude, the interior is in desperate need of redecorating, service was slow & the food was bland. I would not recommend this hotel at all. Poor value for money.
