Any rural pub restaurant with a full car park at 5pm on Wednesday must be doing something right, and the Rose & Crown goes from strength to strength.
Great food (half price Mon-Thurs with a Hi Life card), served very fresh and very hot on hot crockery by pleasant staff in pleasant surroundings. The view outside is lovely too. The menu is definitely good-quality pub food but there are a few unusual dishes plus a specials board so something for everyone (but probably not much for vegetarians). Starters from about £4, mains from about £9, beer £2.60 for Daleside Blonde. Service was a little bit slow on Thursday BUT the place was just about full which was clearly unexpected, and the food was still very fresh. The waitresses ran about to keep up.
The beer quality’s always been a bit mixed (is 4 hand pumps too many perhaps?) but last night was fine. Check with a half pint first.
Always worth booking just in case.
