Had a weekend away with the other half as a belated Valentines Day present. We are golf mad so when he found out there was a putting green on site with unlimited golf he was over the moon. That said, we also enjoyed the time we spent together there - hot breakfast each day was fab, a drive around the Dales was also lovely.

We stayed at the Old Golf House Hotel as we were attending a wedding in Halifax and needed somewhere to stay in the vicinity. I found a deal on KGB Deals advertising 2 nights B&B for £89. This was much cheaper than anywhere else I had looked at and booked the deal.
Jo was most helpful with the booking process as obviously I wanted to ensure those specific dates were available before I booked.

The hotel is based behind the M62 so very easily accessible.
We were in room 17 on the ground floor facing the motorway. The rooms are well glazed and therefore no excess traffic noise.

The room was pleasant but having an identity crisis. The walls were a modern colour with modern lighting, but then old and dated furniture and a flat screen TV - it just doesn't quite make sense. The bed....oh the bed...a triumph! So comfortable and soft, just delightful.
The bathroom was bright and clean, average bathroom really. There is also a hairdryer in the room.

When we went for breakfast on the first morning, there had been a wedding the previous day and there was another wedding today; they were so busy setting up tables for the wedding that they forgot about their hotel guests needing breakfast. We sat at a 6 person table with flowers and wine glasses for our breakfast. The woman looked truly surprised when 45 minutes before breakfast finished people were still turning up for breakfast and needed places to sit.
The breakfast was average, the sausages were horrible, learnt this for the second morning!
The staff were just so preoccupied with this wedding that they even took our plates whilst we were still eating from them. The staff were more relaxed on the second morning as there clearly wasn't a wedding that day, but I wasn't overly impressed by this point.

The whole experience was good for the deal I got, however had I paid anymore I would have been most disappointed.

Lovely place and staff were excellent. This hotel should be in better spot as the surrounding area has nothing to offer even the local pubs werea bit drab. Food was fine good breakfast especially. Would recommend this hotel and would go back

Stayed at the Old Golf House recently and my only (minor) complaint was that the rooms were too warm. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Despite the M62 motorway running directly behind the hotel we were not disturbed by traffic noise. Food, especially breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Huddersfield is 3.5 miles away, taxis cost £18 return, but there is a regular bus service and the bus stop is directly opposite the hotel. There are two pubs and a shop nearby but there is nothing else to do/see in the immediate area. However, I would recommend the Old Golf House hotel and I would return.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 49, which appears to be more spacious than some of the other rooms. There is no lift so be careful with higher floors

My son and his partner had their civil partnership ceremony and reception here, all the staff were very helpful, the food was fantastic and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff couldn't do enough for us they were all fantastic. it was a very enjoyable day from start to finish. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. All our guests commented on how good a day they had. I would definitely recommend the Old Golf house for a wedding.
