Recently attended a wedding at the Pennine Manor. Everything was perfect. The staff did a brilliant job to ensure that all the guests were well looked after. There were no glitches in the day at all. The food was really nice, although the veg a little aldente for me but i suppose that down to personal preference. I will certainly return to the hotel and recommend it.

Found this hotel on the net as we where going to a wedding locally. In an ideal location looking down on the valley of Huddersfield. The room we were allocated (24) was over the entrance to the hotel but we could not believe how quiet and tranquil this was. We booked on a B&B basis.
The resturant had a lovely outlook so make sure you get a window seat. The Sunday breakfast was a buffet style with some many items to choose from. The waitresses were very attentive. We rturned on Sunday night at 5.0pm and had their 'Carvey Menu' which we had Roast Lamb and so many chooses of vegetables. On Monday the breakfast was on an order type menu, I choose the 'Eggs Benedict' and my wife choose the 'Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs'. They were both very well presented and so enjoyable. First rate marks go to all the staff for a comfortable stay.

We visited with another couple on the stay and dine package, which I think is great value. The a la carte menu had a nice choice but it did seem a bit petty to be able to choose 'any 3 courses' from the menu but have to pay for sauces to accompany the steak! There was a wedding in when we visited so had to eat in the bar area, that in itself wasn't a problem, it was an issue that there was nowhere to sit though. We had a table booked for 8 but met up in the bar when we arrived at 6....there was only 1 table to sit at which as you can imagine was already taken. When I asked the staff if there was anywhere to sit they replied 'only in here because there is a wedding on'....but there wasn't actually anywhere to sit!?! Our room was lovely if a bit in the small side. The breakfast ok, but not great. The hotel is in a great location and I will return, but would nit like to pay more than the dine and stay package price!

Dear Rachel c

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. Our sleep dine offer is exceptional value where guests can stay the night, eat 3 courses with no restrictions and breakfast the next morning, however, side orders, sauces and drinks are payable on the night. We appreciate your feedback and will take your comments under consideration when we re look at this offer.

We apologies if there was no where to sit in the bar when you met for drinks, you don't mention so I assume there was somewhere to sit at the time of your reservation and we are delighted that overall you enjoyed you food and stay with us and look forward to welcoming you again soon

When looking at the website this hotel looks a lot nicer than it actually is which is a real shame because its in a beautiful location and could be something really special if a little money was spent on it.
The whole place is very tired looking and at times the cleanliness is questionable which many other guests have also brought up.
The rooms are ok but very small and to be charged extra for children to sleep on camp beds seems an insult when you then lose the little bit of space you did have in the room to fit the bed. For rooms that size they could and should give the camp beds for free and simply charge a small fee for the childs breakfast.
The food was resonable but with the claims by management on here that they concentrate more on the cuisine than the accomodation I did expect better.
One major problem and let down for myself is the lack of outdoor areas for guests to sit if its nice as the interior of the bar area is quite dark and gloomy and what is the point in being situated in those lovely surroundings if your guests cant enjoy it?
There is a lovely (although small) outdoor seating area connected to the back of the restaurant but we did not see this till the morning after our stay as there was a wedding on in the restaurant the evening before so that area was not available to us anyway.
There is however one bench outside the front of the hotel if you want to sit in the carpark on your own!
I know from reading many reviews on here a lot of people are of the same opinion as me so come on pennine listen to your customers.
Decker group need to spent a little money on tidying up this hotel and try to add some more outdoor areas to enjoy those breathtaking views and this place could be a real gem!

Dear lou-lou0914

Thank you very much for your feedback, we constantly work to improve what we do and it is a great disappointment when guests don't enjoy there stay as much as we would hope. Your review doesn't mention that you brought any of your concerns to us during your stay, I am sure we could have resolved some of your concerns there and then.

We have carried out some refurbishments - all the ceilings were dark wood when we purchased the site and we have brightened this up, new carpets, furniture and painted throughout.

We do put a high value on our food, however, we don't do this at the expense of our accommodation, both are equally important and your comments will be discussed with the team and we will continue to improve.

We returned for the stay and dine offer and cant fault it at all. The a la carte menu had a nice choice and was prepared to a very high standard. The breakfast was equally well presented and the staff were polite and welcoming. The hotel is in a great location.

This hotel is badly in need of a complete refurbishment. It has not changed since the last time I stayed here which was 13 years ago when it had different owners. The reception area, bar, restaurant etc are all looking very tired. The rooms are ok but very dark and dreary. I stayed for 4 nights and my bathroom was not cleaned once.
The bathrooms in particular are very dated - the taps dripped, the sink did not have a mixer tap which quite frankly is poor for any hotel in 2013.
We were very disappointed that, despite the fact that we paid £70 per night for our rooms ( we booked 3) breakfast was not included.
The hotel does, however, have lovely views.
We stay here because we have family who live in the local village and this is the closest hotel to them but we will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: If you are staying on a Saturday night ask for a room away from the inevitable wedding reception.

Dear jennyr265
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are so disappointed that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. I can assure you that updates have occurred since we bought the hotel, we have new furniture, a new reception area – all public areas have been decorated, you may recall all the wooden ceilings which made the public areas very dark, they are no longer there.
With regard to the issues with your bathroom, it doesn’t sound like you brought this to our attention at the time as I’m sure we could have resolved this for you.
We do hope you reconsider and return to us on your next visit to the area
