“Perfect Premier Inn”
Reviewed 26 September 2012

Everything you'd expect from a Premier Inn really. Clean, cheap, modern, comfortable and friendly staff.

The only gripe I'd have is that the overspill car park is across a bridge - not such a problem, but I almost drove into the canal as there's no lighting and it was hammering with rain! Also no barrier to stop you driving into it...

Other than that, an extremely pleasant stay and will certainly be staying here next time I'm in Huddersfield.

A room that all four of us can sleep in is vital with a young family. This hotel was very clean, very quiet and very friendly. Beds were comfortable, even for our tall family member. Breakfast is not gourmet but fabulous value and lots of choice so the children were spoilt for choice. Bonus.

The Premier Inn Huddersfield Central is a new hotel located canal-side at Aspley Basin, across Wakefield Rd. from Huddersfield University and adjacent to a very fine restaurant with which the hotel has arrangements for dining privileges for guests. A daily continental breakfast was included with our room. My wife and I spent five nights in a ground level room with a view of the canal boats moored in the basin. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy engaging in conversation. The main bus station and the train station are approximately one half mile away, an easy walk, but there are bus stops on Wakefield Road near the hotel for those who are not driving and choose not to walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the canal.

Stayed here for one night before moving on, check in very good. Booked 2 twin rooms which we got next to each other, it would of been nice at the time of booking if we had been asked if we wanted a connecting door. We were on the ground floor close to the main road, but we didn't hear much noise. We had an evening meal at the hotel, typical premier inn food, good service. We walked into the town centre for a few drinks, it took about 10mins. Ideal location for shops and the town centre, also managed to get parking on site.

Hotel is fairly new. Rooms very good (mine certainly was) - clean and quiet too. Bed comfy.

If you're on the right side of the hotel, you'll get a view over the Marina. I didn't, though this didn't bother me.

Not much parking right next to the hotel, though there was a bigger car park, accessed over a footbridge over the canal. Bit of a faff carrying luggage over the bridge to the hotel, but not the end of the world.

Service in the hotel was excellent - friendly service in the Table Table restaurant (attached) too.

Right in the centre opposite the University. I would stay there again if I was up that way.

Room Tip: 204 is an excellent sized room with plenty of light (view of rear car park instead of Marina though...

Spent a couple of nights here. Helpful and knowledgeable receptionist (ask him where the decent pubs are! )

Was a bit worried that the adjacent Apsley would give late night noise but no probs - people seem to go there to eat rather than to drink.

Big sainsbury adjacent. Convenient for town centre.

Another pleasant premier inn stay (why can't other places be so predictable :-) )

I booked this premier inn as it was close to a venue we were attending for my cousins weeding eve reception.I was dissapointed from arrival as we couldnt get a parkng spot in the hotel car park so had to carry our bags accross a narrow wooden foot bridge over the canal.I had booked our room many months in advance and was not very pleased when we were shown into a disabled room which would have been ok had it had a full height wardrobe to hang our clothes in for the eve and the christening the next day which included dresses and suits, also there was an interconneting door which i hate due to noise travelling through. Also I was looking forward to a lovely bath and as it was a disabled room of course it had a disabled bathroom with only a disabled shower with seat and a very low sink and toilet. When i asked for another room I was told there was only one left and this was very small and didnt even have a sette as advertised on the website. We had no choice but to accept as we were already late for the evening reception. On arrival back to the hotel which was after midnight we still couldnt get in the car park but my husband parked in the drop off zone as we were not prepared to cross over the wooden bridge. Our room was room number 1 as was opposite the reception door on ground level,so needless to say the noise was constant till 3am in the morning door banging and voices. We were then woken at 8.30am sunday morning to the sound of work men laying a new road surface outside the hotel I know the hotel couldnt help that but the so called sound proofing they advertise didnt work.I am sorry to say this has put me off premier inns for life.

Room Tip: not number 1 and not on the ground floor
