We have been long time customers of the Street at Brighouse so we thought we would try the new restaurant. This is the second visit I couldn’t leave a comment on the first visit which was a couple of days of them opening. On that visit there were a few teething problems that didn’t detract from the meal so we returned for a second helping.

The food on the first visit was excellent, this is not your usual cheap "Indian" restaurant where you go for a cheap and cheerful curry after a night on the beer if that’s what you expect don’t go here, you will be disappointed.

But if you want fine Pakistani dining here’s the place.

The restaurant is small and intimate with a lovely waiting area upstairs well set out and pleasing where you can have a drink and relax waiting for your table.

We had the Seafood taster x2 to start which was excellent and we split it between the four of us, we then had different mains which were all excellent, if you are used to the al a carte menu at the Brighouse restaurant then this is slightly different with some of the old faithful’s but some new and exciting tastes.

On average £9 for a main course is not excessive and the portions are just right leaving you not too full and uncomfortable.

I note some of the comments re the prices which are cheaper than comparative other dining establishments in the area. Perhaps these people who complain about the price wouldn’t attend these english restaurants expecting to get a burger and chips at Mcdonalds price or perhaps then again they would!!!, well don’t go to the street expecting "cheap" curries just because it is an 'Indian' restaurant.

Their food does the talking for me, and ranks up there with the best and I have eaten curries all over, including true home made curries.

The menu alone promises something special with many unusual dishes. The chef patron has previously opened four restaurants, one of which was the best in this area until Street opened!
The décor and atmosphere are superb as is the friendly and relaxed service. Absolutely everything is freshly made and it really shows - the best chapatis I've ever eaten, for example. The mixed starter for two is absolutely delicious. we had four different mains and they were each top class and entirely different. By far the biggest problem was trying to narrow down the choice to one each! However we don't live far away and will definitely be going back regularly. Don't miss the freshly made fruit juices in the most beautiful glasses and if you want to take your coffee upstairs, there is a wonderful relaxing lounge where you can chill out for as long as you like.
This is about as far as you can get from a run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant and I really hope that they get the support they deserve. By the way they also do takeaways but it would be a shame to miss the atmosphere of the restaurant.

As regular diners at Street in Brighouse it was only a matter of time until we checked out their new a la carte restaurant in Lindley, Huddersfield - and we were not disappointed.
We arrived at 9pm on a Thursday evening and were lucky enough to get a table without having to book. As usual the staff were very friendly and attentive, and within minutes we had poppadoms, pickles and Tiger beers on our table. The menu is more extensive than the a la carte menu at Brighouse, with some exciting new additions. We both opted for fish starters (tilapia and prawn puri), two vegetarian mains (aloo gobi and dhal tarka) and one fish main (prawn with garlic karahi sauce) with three roti and one paratha to share, and we also had desserts (pistachio kulfi and gulab jamun). As usual the food was amazing - great flavours, fresh ingredients and very authentic - everything we have come to expect when dining at Street.
The service was excellent - friendly, relaxed and very attentive - which only served to improve the dining experience.
It's worth noting the restaurant has an extensive and diverse wine menu, however we opted for Tiger beers which complimented the spicy food perfectly!!
Overall, another great meal at what has become one of our favourite restaurants - and we are both looking forward to our next visit!!
