Quite a nice building in two halves the very imposing French style and the plainer earlier building. Inside quite nice too The display of silver is very nice but should be in a better location than what is in effect a waiting room at the registrars office. Some nice silver a few Geoprgian pieces but mainly Victorian and later some very practical, some for display. i havent explored this building fully yet but I believe the theatre portion is very nice and impressive.

We subscribe to the concerts linked to the multi-talented Opera North orchestra whose home base is in Leeds but whose guests appear from around the world. Acoustics are so good that our bargain gallery seats enable us to hear every sound. We can see every performer without straining to either side as we might need to in the otherwise superb wrap around balcony seats. The downside is the climb aloft past the lift stop at the bar and tight leg-room but toilets are available and never crowded up there. At around £8 per concert for concessions (more for the stalls or balcony) it's a huge bargain for world-class performances of all your favourite light classical composers. And the best bit is the beautiful Town Hall itself, right in the town centre, great for buses and adjoining car parking.
