This is a real treat have been twice now. The menu is short but have tried 4 dishes and all were tasty and freshly cooked, which makes a change from the usual chain pub food. But it is the lovely friendly staff that really make it a pleasure to eat here. Yes it's more expensive than other pubs but very good value for money.the chips are great.

Not the best atmosphere perhaps - it's a bit like a spit-and-sawdust tavern - but cleaner! However the food is terrific. Mrs S and I took eldest S and her boyfriend (both veggies) and we all ate well - each completely satisfied with the fayre. We would have had puds but they do seem to stop serving food early (8pm) - fair enough - it is clearly shown as 8pm cut-off.

The bill was a very pleasant surprise too!

Went with friends, ten of us, the staff are unbelievably friendly, helpful and can't do enough to make you feel welcome. I wish more places were like this, they could make money from showing some other restaurants how to greet and look after customers. The food is excellent, cooked to order, piping hot and as fresh as a daisy. Try the fish pie if you are hungry, it will take a big eater to finish it off but every mouthful is worth it. We will definitely be returning for more, don't be put off thinking it's just a town centre pub, it's not, it's a great evening or lunch time venue and excellent value for money.

Had heard lots of good reviews of this place and were not disappointed ourselves.

Very busy shopping day in town and the place was rammed, was shown to a nice little area upstairs and seated promptly though. Service was really good and the menu was excellent, what you would expect from a really decent pub menu. Ordered a couple of burgers and both of us were very impressed, overall, food, drinks, service and value for money was spot on.

Would definitely visit again and would highly recommend checking this place out

thanks
