“Nice average pub grub”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

We decided to visit Northern Taps for a change, both of us chose the burger. Service was excellent but i found the food nice yet average. Well presented but for the price i expected a fatter burger and the bread bun was average, plenty of fries although too salty. Based on the price paid and quality i wouldnt say the best value but 10 out of 10 to the staff and a lovely bar with a classy, modern interior.

Superb service and excellent food. The veggie burgers were astonishingly good. Heartily recommended. Second time here; we will definitely be back.

“Poor service due to small kitchen (apparently)!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

The food is very good and well presented, although the burgers look a little small, what they loose in quantity is certainly made up by quality! The service on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired - yes it was Saturday lunch time - yes it was busy and no we didn't mid waiting for a table. Once seated and order taken - drinks finished, two different servers asked how much longer the food was going to take - the second staff member said that as they only had a small kitchen all the orders had backed up, but would see what he could do. Dilemma, wait a bit longer or go - food arrives at last! Worth waiting for - perhaps, as 2 burgers and 2 rounds of drinks came to £20. If you are into small kitchens and don't mind a wait when they are busy this is the place for you - as for the quality of the food - excellent which is really all we go for!

“A stylish pub/restaurant right in the centre of town”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Thank you Trip Advisor reviewers! It's not easy to find a good lunch in Huddersfield town centre so looked for recommendations on TA and found this pub/restaurant.

It's a stylish cafe/restaurant/bar with lots of character, from the decor to the soul music playing in the background and on a very warm day, it was lovely that the doors open wide enough for you to be almost outside. Very Continental! Unlike a lot of restaurants, the tables weren't too close together and I appreciated the comfortable chairs.

There's a varied menu, with plenty of choice without feeling overwhelmed and we really enjoyed our food - traditional home-made fish pie with plenty of salmon, white fish and prawns, hard boiled egg and buttery mashed potato. Substantial portions and excellent value at £9.

I think this could quickly become a favourite place to eat!
