There was a brass band of youngers play; stalls selling Christmas gifts, food and drink and there is also the usual Museum things and the Rugby museum is currently housed at Ravensknowle Park. Definitely worth a visit on a Winter's afternoon

Well worth a visit. This museum highlights local Huddersfield heritage from early stone age to the present day.
Lots to see and do for kids of all ages. On display is the the only existing David Brown valve less motor car.

Far from boring there are examples of transport, housing , work and life through the ages. My children love this museum. There are lots of places to run around outside. Crown green bowling and a playground. You will love the peacocks.

If you want to find out about the industrial heritage of Huddersfield, are interested in archaeology or birds(large collection of stuffed ones c/o Charles Waterton) , or old modes of transport the this is the place to come. You could easily spend a good half day at this museum, lapping up all the information. If, like us you have children who need hands on experience and plenty of activity ,it may be best to go when there is an activity workshop on for the children. Our 's enjoyed browsing in the shop at the end!

This was a fun learning experience for myself (though I've been before there's always something I've missed) and grandchildren aged from 2 to 15. Enough hands on activities to keep them happy and the 2 year old did not want to leave.
