Local pub with some rooms above, basic but very good value and a comfy bed. Quiet bar with a few friendly locals in (it was a school night), shame they don't do breakfast but the pub down the road does, will be staying on my next work trip to huddersfield, much better than those soulless chains.

lovely location for price, the room we stayed in at the back of the property had a woodland view with a stream below, there was some rubble below indicating a small construction project going on but no noise. The room had all the basic amenities and a large tv, comfortable bed, slightly small but for the £35 paid i can't complain.

Stopped here overnight for a family party, got greeted and shown to the rooms, stay was enjoyable apart from the music coming from the bar at 3am in the morning, overall not a bad stay for the money, i would stay here again for an overnight stay perhaps no longer

Booked in here for one night thinking it was a basic two star accommodation at £35 a night without breakfast. Boy were we taken aback when we walked in!! We had to go into the bar to get the key and it was like an 18th century spitoon bar. The stench of damp was overwhelming when we were shown up to our room. There was one light switch in the room which operated the room and bathroom so if you needed the loo in the night you would have to switch the bedroom light on too and wake everyone!! The curtains didnt meet and were thin. There were cigarette butts on window sill outside & in the unkempt window box which was full of weeds & rubbish! It was singled glazed and on a busy main road. There was no grout on some of the bathroom tiles and no hook to hang a towel or anything in there. The bedding was thin & well worn with bobbles and the mattresses had seen better days, you could feel every spring. There were marks & damp on the walls. People were being allowed to smoke at the bottom of the stairs which was well inside the pub and you had to walk through them to get out. The final straw was when we turned over a cup to make a drink and there was a pubic hair on the saucer!!! We were out of there fast and got our money back through the online booking agent. Avoid this like the plague.

We now have seperate light switchs for the toilet and double glazing, i understand that this was unnacceptable to many guests. 95% of our overall reviews throughout the internet have been good proving the large majority of our customers do not share the views of this reviewer. A group of females stayed in the same room the same night and gave a great review on the website we advertise through (as the reviewer didn't stay).
Regarding the hair on the saucer, I doubt you can be certain it was a pube as i doubt it was picked up and inspected (you won't find us in the real PUBe guide lol) , although i do understand that any sought of hair is unacceptable and although on this occation our quality control was evidently not as stringent as it should of been we DO take cleanliness very seriously. We are a local pub with budget accomodation, the room booked offers 2 double beds, tv and tea & coffee making facilities, sleeping upto 4 people for just £35 (£8.75 each) and although cleanliness is paramount i feel many of the other comments are pedantic and NOT shared by the majority of our customers
